OK, Nusofting just released a very promising-looking plug-in. But as soon as I saw it, it seemed a bit familiar. Then I read the copy...
NUSofting claim PK3 is one of the most advanced mastering peak limiters available today, with a variable look-ahead time window providing "unmatched flexibility in its class". The state-of-the-art algorithm behind the processor is the result of long research and years of experience, and offers clean peak limiting without audible distortion.
Now check out the copy from A0audio's MPP page (also a dynamic limiter):
MPP is one of the most advanced mastering peak limiter available today on the market with a variable look-ahead time window providing an unmatched flexibility in its class.
:-o

The rest of the copy from Nusofting seems to be heavily lifted too. They look remotely similar. I may read too many conspiracy books, but what the hell is going on? 2 new limiter plugs, same copy, different company???

it's kinda the same company now, though

still odd that they would both release it

clearly both companies used their variable look ahead time window to see what the other was gonna do next...

pah ! they just just do a real merger, rationalise the product line, and then come up with a decent name. both company names are awful imho

and what do you think dk+ is! comes from the very first vst ever commercial drum machine!
I think everything that Aldo developes sounds fantastic, is easy to use and uses little cpu for what it does - quite obviously he's a brilliant developer...

b.t.w.: CAP is the dogs bollocks!!! :D 8)

It's cheaper from Aldo's site - does that mean there are differences worth paying for or what?

So THAT's what's been wrong with my life all these years! Crap look-ahead window algorithm.

Sheesh--NOW they tell me.

OK, I still don't understand why one is copying and pasting text from the other, or if they're the same. If the companies are collaborating, it's an odd way of doing it; especially if the prices are different! Some word from the devs would be helpful...I think I'll email them and see what the story is.

The companies/devs are collaborating closely and have done for a long time - that much has been clear from what I have read and they have been very open about that. I'm certain there is nothing underhand going on here. But I would appreciate some clarification regarding the differences between the two products (if any) given the price differences.
