Recently, I posted an FR requesting an easy way of sending the output of Envelope track data to the CC channels of MIDI Clips. Whilst I'd still like to be able to do it in energyXT, I found a neat little way of doing it and decided to make a little web tutorial.
http://www.ccir.ed.ac.uk/~nanderso/ext/ ... baking.htm "Baking Envelopes to MIDI CC Channels".
If anyone finds it useful, they're welcome to take the text and images and post them elsewhere.

Hi ceenda, that's great. Up to now I had put an answer you gave about the topic "Can I use energyXT as a VSTi to play soundfonts in Tracktion?" into the FAQ. This new one is surely great for a wiki. I'd go straight ahead and add it to the tips+workarounds, but maybe I could simply LINK to your place, as people could see the pics there too. Nice! And again something for me to learn.

Hi all,
big news (and I can go on holidays soon
). Asseca was so kind as to start a new WIKI for the FAQ and TIPS-section!!
Look HERE, after DarkStar's, NicFit's and Caleb's links more at the bottom of the page. You see the FAQ, TIP-section, and... at the right of it the FAQ's wiki and the TIP's wiki.
So from now on we can do this together, everyone who likes to participate is in!!
If you got, by the way, tutorials that you want us to link to, simply place a short description what it is about to the TIPS-section, for example. (Just like I did just now with Ceenda's nice tutorial, already included over at Asseca's site).
There's some good explanations over at Asseca's site as well how to edit already existing FAQs and create new ones...
It's always a good idea to write a pm or an e-mail to Asseca after editing FAQs or writing new ones. So he could see what we do and organize it in the nice way he does since weeks.
After you headed over to the website and saw what it is about, here are some further things to know Asseca wrote to me:
. Isn't this nice?

Asseca's pmwiki is still a work in progress, but now we can ALL add our EnergyXT-wisdom to itI am thinking of placing the FAQ number after the "Q", e.g. Q-21:
Maybe it is a good idea to place an asterisk "*" in front of the "Q", if a FAQ has changed, e.g. *Q21: this would make it easier for me to track down modifications.
New FAQs should be place in http://www.asseca.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php ... XT/FAQsNew
If a FAQ has no number, I know it is a new FAQ.

Okay, people, I have two reasons to praise the WIKI-idea.
First of all it was great fun to do something for EnergyXT, and second now we all can do something. I will stop my activities a tiny bit cause I am DEAD sick and tired of the riciculous and not really intelligent HATESPEAK that's spreading recently over KVR (surely not in the EnergyXT-forum).
Everyone who tends to believe this or that must be SCHEINTOT or MENTALLY ILL. If you buy the wrong soundcard you'll be flamed. The mag X is for stupid idiots and dummys, and don't dare to have any other opinion! Come on, live is too short for ridiculous blabla like this!
So please add your FAQs and TIPS to asseca's website. Jens and RCHler will do, and scuzzphut, and all others are invited too!
We have done quite a good start there, so maybe it's good if cracks like many of you are continue it. There ARE many tips and hints of you already there, look at DarkStar's, plastique's and so many others very fine posts that are included in the FAQ now. I'll add FAQs after a little break for sure too, but if the cracks will add their tips, we'd win much

Looks like I'm a little late for the show... the wiki is already up and running and it's very cool - thanks to everyone who made it possible!
I would have proposed to build a drupal site to gather all the ext-info under one roof, and could have provided server space for the project. Now, as I see asseca & Caleb on his own site have done a fair bit of work, it doesn't make a lot of sense. Anyway, as I'm not a power-user and I only read the tips&faqs and would have liked to contribute in some other way, I mention this possibility for future. Drupal is a full-scale community system, and I have now some years of satisfying experience from maintaining drupal sites.
This pmwiki, however seems to do a lot, is perhaps better oriented to this kind of thing (although drupal has wiki module, collaborative books et al) and is definitely lighter! I just want to let this option to hang in the air, in case something happens or some new needs emerge.
happy cycling,
.jon

Just a little reminder today that the WIKI is here for all of us now over at Asseca's page. As far as I know pictures aren't included so for the very nice idea of having some templates for XT as live-tool you would have to link to another place, but then 2 places are better than none.
And for all the other ideas it's the same. I will add FAQs from time to time too, plastique's explanations for example, but you may post any workaround or idea to the TIPS-section, if you want. It just doesn't get lost that way if the idea gets on page 2 here, 3, 4, gone...
We could add new sections too I think, for live mode, for the sampler in 1.5 and so on, depends what will be added in the future. Anyway, we asked for the WIKI, we got the WIKI thanks to Asseca

I'll add some links to sampler-fodder to the TIPS soon, but thought I could post them here too. If you got more to share, you might want to add your link to the Wiki.
Here we go, up to now only a collection of older ones, but that might change
.
- NAS 15 synths, just recently set back to page 1 on our forum: nice waveforms, find them here
- SDV's eXT Presets for the sampler are here
- (edit: link to Benedict Roff-Marsch's stuff doesn't work anymore, see page 4 here for the new one and other stuff).
- Jackob Bangiel's drumkits for the sampler: a simmons-drumkit, a 808, a 909, and a Waldorf Micro Q dance drum: here
Additionally, there were very fine sample programs and a drumkit at leida's site, but it seems they are gone? Anyway, a nice website... (http:/leida.free.fr)
The great GCWS-drumkit from GIRO (look at his thread over at instruments where you can find Battery- DR008- EXS- and soundfont- Kits of the drums) was converted into EXT-format, but it doesn't work yet, you get only bleeps. If there will be an XTS-file I'll post the link here.

...just a short update for all, especially those new to EnergyXT: I added 2 links in the first post. This is because the FAQ and WIKI-links you can find on top of the new ones only give you questions and answers until July.
All new Faqs and Tips go into the Wiki, and the download-section of the "old Faq"
hasn't been updated since we started the wiki.
So for any news, or if you want to add own ideas, simply follow the updated links, for older Faqs+tips see the first 2 links. Or, even better, go to Asseca's EnergyXT-site, where you can find all the good tutorials by DarkStar, and much more...
Another good idea: many users asked for example-ext-files. We can't put pictures into the wiki yet, but you can add links to ext-files you keep on your website at any time...
Or you can simply post your pictures in our forum here, and I'd link to the posts then.
I think Caleb will add example-files to his great manual, so look there (after 1.40 will be out) and see DarkStar's guides first. Anyway, the Wiki can be edited much easier, so for quick additions or new ideas it's always a good place.

Hi all
former information was wrong - Asseca
has put pictures to a Tip HERE.
So it's possible to add pictures too, nice!
And by the way, Andrew was the FIRST to add an own tip to our project; all the others are collected by Asseca and me. Thanks
. What I'd be especially interested in would be some faqs or tips about
- midiFX and how to use them in energyXT (to be frank, I'm merely a beginner in this part of the EXT-world)
- multimode
- live mode...
- workarounds you find useful...
Of course all the cracks like DarkStar and Jens and plastique and Soma many others don't need to post there, but if anyone of the others wants to help with, say, MidiFX-explanations for beginners a bit, well, that'd be great...
And as I can't visit the forum on a daily-basis right now any pm with a link like "add this to the faq if you want" would be appreciated too.
Cheers to all, and a nice weekend with the latest beta

Hi all,
some weeks ago after I had tested a very nice drumkit Hovmod had made for our eXT-sampler I asked him if he could write a tutorial for us.
Now here it is
. Get it from HERE, it's in the TIPS-section at asseca's website.
It's highly recommended, if you're interested in the sampler and in building your own kits and any other instruments for EnergyXT! I tested it yesterday night, it's just what you might need if you thought of getting your samples together and make an EnergyXT-kit.
You learn, based on Spe3d's very good drumkit (find all the details in the TIP itself), how to do a
multi-layered drum kit .
Many thanks to Hovmod! And let's wait and see, for now you have the simple tutorial ready for download...

...just a short one now: I'm not adding new FAQs from our forum to the WIKI, cause we're all waiting for EXT 2
. Of course anyone who finds a good question+answer is free to add it...cheerio.
