I'm going to have to try hard to get use to that name.

That's what people said about Pentium, but that stuck pretty well.

graphic design is a tad boring...

I think Longhorn was just a little, little bit too phallic :)

It's good to change a product name when the old name had been "coming soon" for 2+ years.

So instead of saying, "Longhorn released in 2006 (finally)," we'll say, "Seems like only yesterday Vista was announced." Cue fireworks.

Much better name.

Looking forward to see hd/ram requirements.
Last time i checked a beta (long ago), windows explorer used 120 mb (in task manager)...

That's because it was full of memory leaks which is pretty much what is to be expected when an operating system is in such early stages. The beta, due 'before the 3rd of August' should be much better (although not perfect) in this regard as some optimisation will be done. Full optimisation won't be available for us to see until Beta 2 (September) or RC0 (Early 2006)

Also, Vista will run perfectly well on any PC that can run Windows XP (or 2000) at the moment. The full aero 'diamond' UI is what will be limited to higher specification machines with what we would now consider to be medium-high end graphics cards. The UI can tier way down (via 4 or 5 stages) to Classic like XP does currently.

Why does windows always have to have the sucky names. Apple has names like Cheetah, Puma, Panther, and Tiger... while microsoft chooses less than powerful names for a reason :hihi:

You all know that Longhorn was always a code name and was never meant to be the final name for the OS, right?

Anyhow, with that said, I'm less than thrilled with the name Vista.

Not to mention the horrid DRM that is intergrated into vista. like the monitor based DRM that requires to have a compatible monitor to play back preimum content.
