What compressors do you guys like to use on your material? I am looking for some suggestions for a hip hop recommended compressor. I know there's no such thing as a compressor geared towards a specific genre but some others are better at producing that pumping effect than others.

For pumping?
I always like the GPP1 from Kjaerhus. Though he has a few nice compressors on offer.
Have you tried free compressors? Like Blockfish?

TbT Pocket Limiter if you like really big sounds. Not "transparent" though.
Here is my small version:

The Kjaerhus Golden compressor range get another recommendation from me too. GUP, GCO, GPP, GAC will all pump nicely (and they're very sweet compressors too).
Strangely enough, although it's geared toward beats specifically, a very good pumping compressor is OtiumFX Beatpuncher - It'll pump the most of any s/w comp I've come across yet - if you set it to waveshaping you can get real extreme pumping that'll scream too (not recommended for mastering though
). It's cheaper than the Kjaerhus ones, although I personally prefer the sonic characteristics of Kjaerhus for mastering.
I don't really know the Voxengo ones, but they seem well thought of generally, and I'm sure some of Alexey's will pump too.

ArneyS, you may check out Voxengo Soniformer and Polysquasher plug-in compressors: they were designed for use on master bus mainly. Voxengo Elephant is a mastering limiter.
