Seeing as how a Rhodes and a B3 go into every single song that I produce I'm not entirely sure how to take this thread. While we're at..Moogs are cheesy, so are Korgs, and Oberhiems, and anythine Roland makes, and any digital synth, and any other analogue synth. Hell, drums are cheesy, so are stringed instruments. You knwo what else? Every time i hear the human voice on top of any of these cheesy instruments it makes the human voice cheesy too. You know, nature is pretty cheesy too. I mean, it's everywhere! Give it a rest nature! I'm getting tired of gravity rearing it's ugly head all the time too.

I know you're trying really, really hard to be facetious, but you... well, you've failed.

The B3 and Rhodes are the epitomization of cheese in modern music. I haven't heard your music, but I would suggest that you seriously consider its potential cheese factor -- the fact that you are using these two instruments in every song is of great concern to me. I know I may seem heavy handed in this approach, but I only want whats best for your music.

I've just had a look at my Rhodes, and I'm not sure, but it appears to be woody, plasticy, and metaly. Hope this helps.

That's all relative to the kind of music you produce. If you produce trance or industrial, you're probably not going to hear many rhodes or hammonds in there. If you produce trip-hop and downtempo (as I do)you're probably not going to be able to avoid them.

Eh, whatever. You guys can go back to making all of the cookie cutter electronic music that you want. There are those amongst us with a sense of appreciation for the impact that these particular instruments carry.

Personally I find DX7 epianos, GM drums, bad clav/acoustic bass/lead guitar/saxophone emulations, a lot of pad sounds, plinky Acoustic Piano patches (a la Korg M1), nu-metal guitars, or detuned Virus supersaw sounds infinitely more cheesy. Or yer Vangelis/Tangerine Dream style pwog sinthesiser epics... Uber-fromage to my ears. But hey, it's all subjective.

Lots of 'contemporary' flavors of styles actually use rhodes/b3/clavs etc. even when you got the sounds burried in the production sometimes. I'd hardly call drum'n bass, blues, lots of jazz flavors, and a diverse range of harder sounding things 'cheese'. Maybe it's time to listen around a little more, mate

At least Rhodes and B3s have a highly recognizeable sound. Yeah, that might qualify to call them cheesy - but, I really don't know how you'd define "cheese".

To me, the english language is cheesy. I mean, come on, it's used in each and every boring post up here, it really starts to wear off, can't almost stand it anymore, time for a change!

How can any instrument be cheesy in and of it's self? If it sounds cheesy in a song then that just makes the person who decided to use it in that way cheesy.
