I am too long in the tooth to bother with new hosts all the time. I prefer to beocme proficeint at one and then it is there for any method of music making I decide to do at the time.

In case no-one guessed I use SX.

well if you have to ask you what they say...
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

....hey this is an interesting thread...but could you also please submit what kind of music you produce? I think the differences between host can sometimes lie in what they are being used for. It seems technoheads like FLS, samplers and keyboarders like Cubase, live artists have their own thingy too...so please give tell of what you're making. CHEERS!

...and is anyone using something as expensive as Sequoia. I don't mean to start a "better than thou" debate; I'm just curious as to what that league of software has to offer that the rest of us are missing...

well, you get to spend it all in one lump sum! :hihi:

I think there should be a host count cutoff for qualifying as a legitimate whore... 3 and less, you're just playing with the idea.. consider yourself a tease, not a full blown street walker. :hihi: :D

That pushes me over then:

Audiomulch - primary host
energyXT - Usually as a VST, been using as standalone lately
Tracktion - the 1.6 NFR. Use it once in a while.
Bidule - There things I love, things I don't. Just got Synhtmaker early bird license, can't decide how much future use Bidule will get from me and if ti'll be enough to buy.
VAZ Modular - it's host, both DX and VST, but I don't make extensive use of its hosting other than effects. Some times I load eXT in VAZ for running other synths in tandem, may start doing that more for CV math using ModuLR's Konstrux. (which are excellent, thank you Mod.)

I use Herman Seib's VSTHost a lot. I'm also a Tu2 user, can make use of VST with PQN's plugin, so the combo I guess counts. And Synthedit hosts stuff, but I never use it as such.

I love things about all of them, none of them is exactly what I want. ok, I don't love much about logic, it makes me crazy, but I do like things about it.

Opcode StudioVision - This was my primary compositional tool since way back in the day, when it was originally known as "MIDIMac Sequencer 1.0" I still have a grudge to settle with Gibson! :x

Since moving to the PC (also many years ago) I've used:

Reason- my first taste of a virtual studio

Orion Platinum- I still use this from time to time

Fruity Loops- Don't care for the way patterns work

Acid Pro- I thought this would be my main compositional tool for years to come, but they've really run the program into the ground at this point. My company bought this for me, so its all good!

Nuendo- Talked my company into getting this for me. I hate it.

Sonar- This does everything I need, and almost everything I want. My main sequencer.

Of course, I'm not including modular gear like the Nord Modular, Doepfer, etc...
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.
