Heh.. I posted the exact same thing a few weeks ago, no response!

Well, I'll be able to give you one by next Wednesday, as I ordered both of these.

..i´m waiting for Perfection...the demo is great..:) but compared to stylus RMX (same price range) it lacks of effects and expandability and spitting around with external midi files isn´t up-to-date... :?

cool...please post your impressions.

do either of you own smokers delight or nu directions? Im curious how much overlap there is between e-labs old sample CD's and these new romplers. of course, the romplers are 11 gigs each so theres bound to be a lot of new content.

Hi,

I was given an NFR of Obsession, and it was useful for me only insofar as I could sample the drums out of it with Chainer and use them in other projects (canned beats don't do it for me, unless they're not something I could do without spending a lot of time on processing, such as Stylus RMX offers). So in the end, yes, it's useful for some of the great samples it offers. However, there *is* quite a bit of overlap, so I probably wouldn't have paid the asking price for just those samples. The beats are decent, just not useful for me.

Haven't gotten the chance to play with these all THAT much, but here are my thoughts;

Foundation - AWESOME. I love the sounds here. If you're into fat, thick, saturated drums, this is definitely your thing. I'm going to be abusing this quite a bit for any electronic stuff I do (I work in the style of TCM/Prodigy to give you a general indicator). Not a lot of organization, but still really nice.

Obsession - A bit cleaner overall than Foundation, and more adaptable to different styles. While Foundation really focuses on the grungy and huge, Obsession has some more 'chill' material, besides the fat stuff. I don't like this one QUITE as much since this isn't really my style, but the material I've gone through is top-notch nonetheless.

Smoker's Delight - An interesting compilation. This is like VCP120 meets Obsession/Foundation meets old CDs like Gota Yashiki's Groove Activator or Clearmountain Drums. There are a bunch of oneshots here (and they're good), but there's an even larger amount of processed chords, riffs, chops, progressions, effects, vocals, etc. Definitely NOT limited to drums, though they have an ample amount of space on the discs. Certainly not as extensive as the above to products, but I think it's pretty cool overall. I'll be experimenting with it more over the next week.
