Heya.

Found some nice samples with Akai programming on them from the depths of my hard disks.

These sounds are NOT - I repeat NOT - done by me, but by a talented dutch producer named Reyn Ouwehand. Him along with his website have disappeared from the net, and I have no idea what's going on with him.

However... Reyn gave me these particular soundsets last year and intended them for public distribution. As can clearly be witnessed by reading the info in the accompanied jpgs.

It was even discussed that I could take care of the distribution as I have access to some servers and some serious bandwitdh.

After failing to contact him, I'm now putting these online so people can enjoy them. Coincidentally, I remembered these things exist after seeing one of the sample providers release something similar for free :P

What's on offer is:

As you can see, these are copyrighted 2003, so they've been gathering dust for a long time... finally they get to be used somewhere.

I'm might be taking too much liberties with these, but anyways... I haven't got the energy to do conversions for any samplers/romplers/whatever right now, hopefully I'll get something done (with the aid of a friend and some tools in his possession) and as soon as it's done, I'll put those online too and whip up a small page for these.

If anyone out there feels like it, provide me your own conversions and I'll put those online too.

In the mean time, have fun. I'll do my best in trying to contact mr. Ouwehand about this.

These are excellent multi samples... made a tune using these & precisionsounds free Red Dragon with few effects for some truly good sounding "toy" music!

Thanks to Reyn!

I found his site using Google and there are even more samples here.

Hey great stuff, and this guy lives only 10 miles from where I live :-)
He's written some great music too!

I recently spoke to Reyn who has been very busy of late. There are rumblings that he might have some more extensive sample packs available soon. This is a quote from his last email to me...

"I bought another smaller Celeste last week that I will be sampling next week. That one sounds great too acoustically. Almost having a whole collection. Also bought some other great keyboards that I will be sampling after they all will be tuned first! Like a TackPiano, a harpsichord and the real Baldwin Electric Harpsichord used by the Beatles and the BeachBoys and numerous other kyes...

I'll keep you posted."

Watch this space, and also Reyn's site and the Akai Users Forum.

Excellent. I love the sound of toy instruments - especially music boxes and toy pianos (one of which I bought on ebay, but the sound turned out to be average - nice as decor nevertheless). Glockenspiels are great too, and I look forward to his new samples. Thanks a lot for hosting and mentioning this here.

Ah, there's some nice sounds in these patches. Unfortunately the sample startpoints are set pretty badly (at least Kontakt 2 sets them kinda early, no idea how accurate it represents the AKAI settings, but usually it's doing fine).
If anybody wants, I can put up a corrected K2 version on later.

Edit: It's actually just the Musicbox suffering from the badly cut samples.
