Hi Squids.

Are there still plans to put out a Pop Brass Sonic Capsule at some stage this year?

I actually can't remember what timeline you gave it when you hinted at it some time ago. Just curious to see if it's still on the cards at all and if there's any info you can share.

That sounds fantastic :D pop/jazz brass is exactly what I've been looking for for a loooooong time!

Anyone ever heard the opening themesong to Cowboy Bebop? If I could have a brass section like that, I would use it in EVERYTHING! A sonic capsule of such brass would rule, since those aren't very expensive, as long as it's mostly multisamples, not loops or "phrases".

So I'm curious about this too - to hearken back to the original point of the thread.

Yes, we have it all sampled so it is just a matter of time before it gets released. Maybe as an Expansion Tank title though.

Expansion Tank, Sonic Capsule.....what's the difference?

Anyway - I don't mind which as long as it sounds fantastic...the primary requisite. :D

I am lick addicted, LIS stuff is a major step for what I like to see. I bet other companies will also release flexible lick collections, where the user has quite some control over tempo and pitch. Rex drum loops are somehow a similar thing, but for drums. Cause you have additional control on the beat, can take out and add hits for variations and so forth.
It's an inspirational tool - brass lick with control would be a similar category for me.
But a brass sample library including a few hundred MIDI licks, especially made for that library, that would also be very cool, if done like Virtual Bassist, where you can easily switch thru all the playing styles.
That would be cool, squids.

Major difference? Not much, I'd think. I assume that the Sonic capsule version does not include specific effect programming of the internal ST2 effects, which makes a difference for having a quick workflow. It's nice to load up a string patch and have an adequate effect setting for reverb while composing and looking for sounds. One other advantage is that one could have the unprocessed waves, but have a common EQ setting start point for the mix, like guitar stums, that typically can be lowered in the mid range to leave space in the spectrum for the lead vocal.

That said, for Sampletank owner, there is an advantage to have it as an Expansion Tank, unless he needs to be able to use it in other samplers as well.

Better be quick though - that area is getting a little crowded now, with Arturia Brass and Kick-Ass Brass (why can't Americans rhyme correctly? Should it be marketed in teh UK as Kick-Arse Brass to have the same effect?) getting in there. Just like Waves/PRS have turned up the heat on Amplitube 2 a little...

One thing this kind of brass library will need is a selection of mutes, at least for the trombones. :)

That's how we pronounce it in Australia... even though it is spelt "Ass" we pronounce it "arse"

No, the Capsules also have the same or even deeper programming than our Expansion Tanks and they DO have effects. The difference is that they are also made to work in other sampler formats. But, that point hasn't seemed to come across well enough which is a shame. But, it is 5 times the amount of work so... for ST users we're concentrating on Expansion Tanks, workstation modules (and other larger collections) as well as downloadable esoundz (of which you can expect a nice batch fresh out of the oven coming very soon).

Kick Arse Barse. AMG is British btw... unless I misunderstood what you were saying there.

Spelt? Whoever spelt it delt it. I have no idea why I just said that. But, it was fun. I like to amuse myself. Occassionally I will take a few down with me that just appreciate a comment such as this amongst many serious posts about tech talk and assorted sales jargon, marketing speak and blatant self-promotion. Who? What? What the... (sorry, just lost my mind for a second - Steve Martin)

Really good to know. That makes them very interesting.

Well, I've always spelt it "arse", and pronounced it as such... and I'm Australian too (as soon as someone can agree on what it means to "be Australian"). :hihi:
