I would buy it if I start doing work for clients that want to port their projects around to a bigger mastering house or something.
Other than that, I'm fine with what I have. I would like to dabble in it just to say that I could hang at a bigger studio if necessary.

I dont need to buy it, Ive got an MBox on loan from work because I'll be teaching it, and access to two Digi002's. But I started with PT4, and when I went for a home system, Sonar1 was capable of everything that I was using PT for, and much, much more. Even at 6.7 or whatever, I have more flexibility and far less limits with other software.

There's better software now and better hardware,so NO! it wouldn't be my first choice.Since I don't need to be compatible with anyone else that doesn't hold water for me either.

No. FL works just ifne for what I need: I'm not recording orchestras, and I really don't need anymore tools to make music, I need to make music! For that much money there are otherthings I would invest in first (like timeshares in Scot Solida's Synth room 
)

I use a Pro-Tools/HD system with a Control24 every day. It would not be possible to function without it. Its exellent but the main reason I use it is due to the demand for the format. There are some plug ins that VSTs dont even come close to... Virus, Inflator etc.
SX and Nuendo do the main sequencing duties though.

i use a G5 + logic 7.1 right now ... if i had the money i'd be getting the PT HD hardware to use alongside it ...
compatibility is the biggest thing here..

I ditched Pro Tools years ago and never went back. Happier with Logic...despite the heavy learning curve of it...

I've tried everything.........well......almost everything.
I have protools mpowered and I can say that it is the best audio host I've used. It's MONSTER stable and is virtually endless in what it will do. I'd love to have the TDM version/with hardware etc dropped in my lap....but that's probably not going to happen.
The big drawbacks....
32 total audio tracks........you have a lot of aux tracks that can be used as well, but this only works for virtual instruments. I think the TDM stuff has 96.
No time stretching..........get live or fl for that stuff. No gain in the TDM version.
Steeeeeeeep learning curve. I love it, I like to fiddle and tweak, but tracktion is far better for instant gratification. The TDM stuff operates the same basically, you just have to learn the extra stuff!:shock:
No freeze. That really sucks, I have no clue if it will be implimented in a future update or not, the TDM stuff has it's own processor. I am not sure how it works.......
some people don't like the midi. However, the more I use ptools, the more I stop using other things for midi........I thinks it's that learning curve thing.
vst support...........this is more finicky. The vst/rtas adaptor works, but has some drawbacks. For example I recently discovered that vsts like groove agent, won't follow odd time signatures......like 3/4 , 6/8 etc. And as mentioned previously, there are some vsts that just dont work well (jamstix is one I know of )

I own ProTools, Nuendo, Cubase and Sonar. With all of those, I have switched to Tracktion and have never been happier making music.
