Creating a great guitar channel strip.

OK, I'm totally loving Live and the fact that you can save off your own channel-strips is awesome. Not the Ableton ones, but by using the trick of saving a blank clip that has the plug setup you want to save, so you can use non-Live plugs.
I'm an Amplitube user but have never felt like it was 'my' amp somehow, and I'm hoping to have more luck making my own signature sounds using a variety of plugs as a custom channel strip 'amp'. I'm using the JCM900 as the core at this point, with the Ableton Saturator, Kjaurhus Auto-Filter and Live's Ping-Pong delay at the end.
Can anyoen give me some advice and maybe tips on setting up the JCM900? I'm essentially looking for a sound that is a strong, clear but fat lead that screams a bit when pushed.

Yeah, thanks! Compressor=basic. Should have thought of that.
I'm actually hoping to make it just with the JCM900 and Live internal effects at this point, so all the plugs will be fully visible without any floating windows. Any advice on this?

Don't have Live but the basic handy tools are:
Noise Gate
EQ
Compressor
Limiter
I use them in that order.
