NEOkILLER II - Massive NOVAkILL Site Update

A big shake up this month. We've removed a lot of synths, either because they are old/obsolete or because they never worked properly in the first place [GODkILLER III]. As the Generation X line-up nears completion it should replace all that have gone before.
So what's new:
- A new BAND/MUSIk section features a more comprehensive history/discography which includes pre-NOVAkILL projects for each of us. There are also some new photo's [if you're into that kind of thing].
- Big reorganisation of the FREESOURCES section, splitting it into 4 separate pages.
- NEW NEOkILLER II which is actually built on the old "light" version and has some handy new features like Hard Sync and syncable LFO and oscillators. It comes with a full 128 patches made by me and Ouroboros.
- NEW SynthEdit resource page with .se1 files and prefabs to download. It includes a version of the killerGATE+ with a lighter GUI and the unreleased kARMAkILLERrevision1, both of which you can compile yourself into VST.
- New ORION resources page. So far I have just put up a zip full of wavetables that I have collected over the years but I will be adding to it in coming months.
iDkILLER II should be ready in a week or two, with HOPEkILLER II following soon after. I am also working on MutaGen for one of the guys on the ORION forum which I should finish sometime soon as well.
If you find any problems with links or missing images, etc., please let me know.

Hey there Bones! Looking foreward to NEOkILLER II, especially the Ouroboros bank. O's bank for Synth 1 is my favorite for that synth so you scored real good.
Pity about GODkILLER III though. It's my favorite synth of yours and I've made loads of patches for it. But it'll be fun from now on using a synth nobody else can get anymore.
Once again, let me congratulate you on killerGATE+. Just a great tool that I'm enjoying the hell out of. Cheers!

Thanks. Once I realised that GODkILLER III didn't work properly, it just annoyed the krap out of me. I never used it on anything of ours and eventually decided to retire it as a failed experiment.

I haven't used it extensively, but what was wrong with it?...I haven't had any real trouble with it...

Velocity modulation, one of the things I like to use all the time, doesn't work. Moving any of the Velocity sliders in the MOD MATRIX just linearly increases the value of that parameter, regardless of the actual velocity of the note. i.e. You get the same amount of modulation whether the actual note velocity is 10 or 127. It is caused by the UNISON set-up I use, which poaches velocity to detune the extra oscillators. In the new synths I have worked around it to some extent, although it is still nowhere near working perfectly.

nearly 1.000 wavetables for orion's wavedream/wavefusion.
worth waiting for this nice collection !
thanks bones !

I really like the velocity mod too to change timbre with different attack on keys.BONES wrote:Velocity modulation, one of the things I like to use all the time, doesn't work. You were nice enough to share the SE1 of Neokiller with me, and I looked into it a bit, and missed that there were no connection from velocity out at all regarding the Velocity mod fader. It was only creating another fixed voltage depending of fader position.
I don't know if I got the final version or not of the SE1-file, but the unison stuff I saw were just doubling a midi note in, to midi out, and changing velocity on each of the extra notes. This would cause phase differences and creating the fat sound, I think. No detuning what I could see.
After extending the max number of oscillators it also worked better without distortion with high unison rate like 4-5 oscillators on each note.
I have not look into Synthedit at all for a couple of month now, but is aiming to give it a go again.
You have not found a way to connect the velocity to modulation area?
Are there any improvements in newer versions of synthedit?

The Unsion is a prefab made by Etric from EVM Synths which he has been kind enough to share. It works by cheating around the fact that you are not supposed to have more than one MIDI->CV module in a container which stops the velocity information from getting to where it was hooked up. So when I did it I thought it was working but it never really was.

-A very cool synth, BONES. The added sync feature makes for some crazy possibilities, and the distortion, as always is fierce. A worthy synth; for free no less. Over the last couple of years(?) I've collected all the kILLERs, and it's cool to see their evolution. NeoKiller is a highwater mark
. NeoKILLER makes it easy.

Thank you for your awesome synth contributions! I have used a lot of GKIII of late, and now will try to replace those tracks with the new NeokillerII.
I also applaud sharing your SE sources. I for one would like to learn a bit about your approach, especially to the mod matrixes and such.
Thanks again!

Bones - I thought you were ditching synthedit in favor of moving over to SynthMaker??? When you made that recent announcement it made me curious about what exciting things we'd see you do with SM. Isn't NeoKiller II still a synthedit creation? How's the Synthmaker plan going?

PT, I included it when it was necessary to get PORTAMENTO but with this configuration I can get it in poly mode so I see no reason for mono. I might have included a mono mode if I could get it to work properly with unison but the only way to do it is to totally restrict the number of oscillators to one.
Convince me that there is a good reason to get it to work better and I might give it a go.
1-2-Many, I gave SM a shot but for me it is nowhere near ready to do any serious work in. It is way too low level and still needs a few key features before anyone will be able to do anything decent with it. e.g. Voice management. At this point I am keeping an eye on it but I don't expect to be using it to get anything done for quite a while yet.
