Hi, some months I've seen an old ProTools plug-in
in a studio creating an ongoing loop out of a
given sample allowing continous variation in
parameters creating a kind of floating sound.
Sadly I forgot the name of it ... Anybody knowing
something similar as VST or DX?

There is a discussion here about an "Echo loop"
sounding quite similar, but I want to create an
atmospheric varying background howling with it
and don't use it for DJing...

Thanks!

What parameters were varied in the loop exactly?

go check out analogic delay and tape delay. turn up the feedback levels on them and tell us if thats what you want :) you just find those by clicking on effects up in the upper right hand.

AugustusLoop ?

If you're on a Mac, try Augustus Loop.

Wonderful tape loop sim. Max delay time = 3,600 seconds!

Beaten to the punch I see... that'll teach me to doddle.

I believe you're thinking of SyncroArts ToolBelt, which I think hasn't exsited for years.

In that case, for PC, maybe check out Rekliner's Loopy Llama as an alternative. No time-stretch/compress though (not actually sure how that worked real-time, unless it was all offline).

ToolBelt was standalone and bridged to Protools, so for a standalone loop thing, maybe check out Ambiloop.

Thanks for your tips, but it was quite a simple tool with a
visual window where you could change the pitch and I think
the lenght of the actual loop. By automating these parameters
you could make quite flowing soundscapes with varying
length of the sample... like ABCD AB BCD ABC BC ...

It seemed to be quite a simple tool (I think out of
a plugin collection), not as many option as the stated
out examples, which are nevertheless a great research base ...

Your forum is really excellent, btw! RS :)

PS: I use Windows only, but seen on Mac OS9 ...

At least visually this reminds me on the tool I'm talking about ...
http://www.whitenoiseaudio.com/Memory but the Protools one was a
little more complex ...

Try http://www.grmtools.org/quicktour/index.html

Some of their plugs look similar.

Cool, Freeze is it! Thanks so much noize :)

For a vst version for should try a granular effect. I'm not really that hot on this but I know that KTGranulator can freeze and pitch loops. Might not be exactly what you want, but it can give a floating sound.
