vurt-my man holy shit man!!! richard james is gonna cry "mommy!!!".. rubber johnny is gonna morph into a giant squirrel and do the greek dance with the handkerchief. then he's gonna approach me. i'm gonna think he wants me to join him. but he's just gonna bite my head off. i f@#%&* love this man!!! you're bound to be a classic. i love you man!! this piece just goes to show me how much i need to practice to create my own genre like you. hehe. listened to this like three times in a row already. 2 minutes doesn't cut it.

Hey, thanks for the vote ugo!!

I really don't know a damn thing about electronic dance music. I entered this month more as a personal challenge than anything else, as I am normally a horrible start-it-but-never-really-finish-it kind of guy.

I wasn't really expecting any votes.

Thanks loads!

Mashups I would like to hear from July's entries:

Chooch / Beardedone

Nikp2000 / Herodotus

I don't know how to go about doing this, but I really think these combos would work well.

Blimey, thanks to everyone who's been voting for me!

I really didn't expect too much, it was such a quick-and-dirty track!

Post

Yes, thanks to everybody for the votes so far, and Ugo and Barnadine for the reviews... Feedback is always very much appreciated. Not listened to all the tracks yet, but it's certainly stiff competition :o
Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.

Post

Apologies for not reviewing all. Here's what I voted. Incredibly difficult to choose.

1. ugo - bonfire
--> Brilliant. The natives are all calling for king kong dancing round a big bonfire. I can see it.

2. glooper - disco mission
--> Where did you get that voice? Can I have some? This is my kind of music. Great.

3. warbug - doa
--> Great energy and pace. Catchy.

4. techbot - ballam de nana haydum de
--> For some reason reminds me of David Byrne. This one is well pagan too.

5. markleford - rio azul
--> It's 1985 and I'm drunk and dancing at a school disco in the eighties making a fool of myself.

6. wilkoryte - slowdance
--> Nice and mellow. Good for snogging.

7. ixox - un tout dernier tango
--> It's like a two minute drama. A lot of humanity in it, as a good tango should.

8. astanine - halothane
-> I don't know much of this kind of music, but everytime I listen to it I get images of mulit-coloured icepops floating across my head. Refreshing.

9. richiebee - dance to this
--> Yes, my kind of music. Great Starsky and Hutch intro.

10. shuzhen - epic shapes elapse
--> Love the bass. I'm driving through a city at night with this one.

Well done everyone who entered. I can't believe how high the level is. I'm going to really have to spend time on the next contest to get anywhere near.

beardedone-spinner fall-another twisted mofo in the house. hehe. i like this. holy shit!!! i'm not very technical in terms of music and all but you got me when the brasilian (?) beat came in. i'm seriously considering quitting music even as a hobby. this is very discouraging. i wanna be able to do stuff like this. heavy creativity.
Hey Tuz! Thanks for the props! :D

Don't give up man! I have felt the same many times. Just keep pluggin' OK.

Best,
Gordon

tuz wrote:ixox-un tout dernier tango-i love this man. what is this sam trumpet and kirk hunter violin. i want those. sounds very realistic. i heard your gypsy competition entry that you composed a while ago. i'm a gypsy freak (being turkish and all) i absolutely love this. maybe you could do a music cafe version of this (longer :D) with accordion and stuff as well. lots of feeling. passion for music screaming through the softness of the tune.

 :D
Thanks a lot tuz and aldred for these nice words...
Tuz, i avoided accordion/bandoneon because i know many people hate it but i love these instruments too. :)
I'm a gypsy freak too.

tuz wrote: astanine-halothane-very happy and uplifting tunage. i can't dance to this myself. an excellent representation of its genre. not necessarily the type of sound i would listen to but i admire your skills. :)
