So far so good!
Is it possible to ghost midi clips? I tried Ctrl-dragging one but it's a copy, not a ghost clip. I've tried searching in the PDF document, but it doesn't seem to like "ghost" or "instance clip".

Gonna order v5 tonight.
How does the install go with v4 already present ?
Do I have to uninstall v4 first ?
Do I have to uninstall/reinstall Operator ?

fine (but see below) ... i had live 4 and the live 5 beta running side by side for a while ...basic channel wrote:Gonna order v5 tonight.

shouldnt HAVE to ... but why would you need to ???basic channel wrote:Do I have to uninstall v4 first ?
also ... there have been cases of the live 4 preferences file bollocksing live 5 up big time ... unless you ABSOLUTELY need live 4 still there id say uninstall it and make sure its preferences files (i think they go in my documents\ableton by default on the PC ... dont know about mac) are deleted too before you install live 5
no idea sorry ... dont have an operator license (although ive just had it confirmed that i qualify for a 50% educational discount so i MAY well be ordering soon) ...basic channel wrote:Do I have to uninstall/reinstall Operator ?

Okay, I had a go, and you can record clip envelopes fine from your MIDI controller as part of the original recording of the clip... but I can't record them in seperately as an overdub (that needs drawing in).pHz wrote: ... not sure it IS possible to record into clip envelopes TBH (if it is im not seeing it at the minute) ...

ah that explains it ... i was just trying to overdub automation onto an existing audio clip to mirror the original posters question ...

No. Operator is automatically included in the Live program files, so installs/uninstalls with everything else. You will probably need to type your registration number back in in the preferences and unlock it for Live 5 though. I automated various parameters on a MIDI synth... I've not tried automating an effect over audio - perhaps that would not work (and I realise that is what the original poster wanted to do...
(The clip automation curve shows up under the MIDI automation selection, not the device itself.)

Yes. I tried mapping a filter sweep, and also tried using pitch bend and mod wheels... all show up as curves on the clip envlopes.pHz wrote:wierd ... still not working on a newly recorded MIDI clip ... are you actually seeing the clip automation envelopes affected by what youre recording ???
