Jens, i guess it is better to submit earlier in the month. It gives us the opportunity to get to know your track through many listens. Some tracks need to grow on you before you really like them and understand their full potential.

Thanks a lot for the help at hosting the song. Truly appreciatedMarkleford wrote:]
Anyone else want to host this tune for KA?
The distorted parts definitely. It's double-tracked in stereo and I'm doing some string bends and vibrato that tend to wind up sharp. Didn't think the middle funk guitar stuff was out, though...
The funky guitar part sounds good, but the melodic lines sound weird along the brass parts.
Thanks again.

Hmmm! Not sure about this quote, but my site`s down because I ended my contract with the former hosting co. for personal reasons but I thought I had paid this month (july) already but it seems I did notwhyterabbyt wrote:Markleford quoth

I just found a better deal for my money (being a bit short of it lately) from another hosting company. I uploaded the site this afternoon, but I am still having problems with the DNS and forwarding of my web name.
It probably is solved as I write this reply.
Anyway. I will download the tracks that do not stream and post my reviews for those too.
Thanks to those who have helped and to the great musicians that have posted such great material. It has been fun listening to all of the songs

I just voted. A bumper crop of top 5s and good tunes all around this month. CONGRATS to everyone, especially Warbug who seems to have the Ragga DnB thing down to a science.
oh and thanks for the votes
i have been watching them trickle in

Wow, thanks! Yeah, that's my bass playing... Like I said, all the sounds in this were free. No loops either. I dislike loops, it's too easy for someone to throw some loops from expensive sample disks together and make a great track.liqih wrote: 0507-gregjazz---all I want to do is dance.mp3
it may remind that Michael Jackson song,
but the sound is more to Michael Franks,
do you play bass like that?, beautiful!

Quick reviews of me top ten..
Warbug - DOA
I love it. This is the kinda tune that would get me to the dance floor every time. I love the riff, the beats and the vocals. Superb stuff.
NikP2000 - The Bollywood Hillbillies
I really like the sounds of this piece. OK.. I probably wouldn't dance to it... But I can definitely see it being in a some bollywood meets Folk movie.. with hillbillies in eastern clothes line dancing or something. Good stuff. good Tune
Art Gillespie - Controversy
Nice tune, very well produced. It sounds like something out of the late 80s early 90s... a theme tune in ghostbusters or batman or something. I can see this one being a hit at "School Discos"...
Griels - Transmogrified
I love the bass, the drums and the guitar in this. And it has an infectious tune that I've found myself humming and singing at work over the last few weeks. but still ... a fade out!..
... nah, good stuff
You(TM) - Feed Back and Oscillate
can easily see myself dancing to this in a dirgy indie club. Good lyrics, well sung. Normal great You(TM) production and style.
Armadillo - Panther
After a few beers in a cheesy club, I can easily see myself throwing my hands in the air to this song. Good vocals and a good song.
Barnadine - A Man of Grace
I love your acoustic stuff and this is really good. It would have been higher except I can't really see anyone dancing to it... maybe swaying in time... or lightly taping a foot. But a very good song.
Pheeleep - Make Music for Fun
This song has a great beginning and has a great vibe throughout. I can see myself dancing to this in a cool eclectic backstreet clubs. Cool stuff.
Ixox - Un Tout derrier Tango
A cool song. If I could dance the tango I'd want to dance the tango to this. Your voice suite's this song .
Techbot - Ballam De ne na Haydum De
A cool danceable song. It's a bit muddy in places. But I really like the beat and the guitars... good stuff
I wanted to also vote for, but ran out of room...
Respirator - Waltz
I liked this.. It has a wierd feel about it.. I can see it being used in a late night arty, eastern European, Animation... with wierd plastercine figures waltzing in a disjointed.. Cool stuff.. I loved the sounds in it
GuitarJeff - Catch the Buzz
Cool funky track with Bee-gee's style vocals. another School Disco classic!

Cool
Glad you like it.
"cool eclectic backstreet club"..
Man, that sounds way better than S&M club
( see further above in the thread ).
By the way, I have never been to an S&M club so it might indeed be fitting. Can anyone else that frequents S&M clubs give me their opinion?
For laughs, I was thinking about adding some whip samples to it..

One more batch before going to bed
scamme - It's All Synthetic; Very Techno and FX based. Cool for the party ravers out there. I wish I knew how to make a tune like this.
mystahr - summer's breeze; Interesting textures, but not very danceable at least to me.
Techbot - Ballam de nana Haydum De; Another strange timed tune. This one is actually danceable and very interesting with all things going on at once. Almost like a samba. Excelently done.
nikp2000 - the bollywood hillbillies; This tune rocks!!!!! the mix of styles is just awesome!!! I can`t dance to it, but still gets a high score for the freshness.
Joenco - Go Jeanne; will download.
MG505 - track; Will DL too.
Barnadine - A Man of Grace; Aaaah! Tango! Sounds quite good too. Excelent way to deal with a dance tune contest. It could use some stranger /Jazzier chords, but the tune in itself is excelent as it is actually. Great job.
Andy.- Summer on the Sea; I was almost expecting Jimmy Buffet to start singing at any time. Cool tune but needs a more direct melody line. Good job though.
kovacs - What I Want To Do; Cool U2 styled guitars but the voice sounds too dry and un-effected to be up front. With proper mixing this could pass as a lost U2 tune from the unforgettable fire era.
You™ - Feedback and Oscillate (Recursion Mix); I just don`t like this tune but I have no idea as to why yet. It might be the mix or the voice. It`s not bad. I just don`t like it (nothing personal)
mchlwlsn - Seeker; Interesting sounds, but don`t dig it. It would really work in the dance floor with some heavier drums.
freeztar - So Danco Samba; Interesting idea but I think it falls short on the sounds and mixing area. With some more time it could turn into a cool track.
Ixox - Un tout dernier tango; A slightly more avant sounding tango than Barnardine`s, but just as good. I really like the french words even though Tango was born and developed in Argentina. Cool tune though and excelent instrumentation.
herodotus - Frogs Don't Dance; Will DL.
Jaidy - Zisorzat; I found this one a bit too simple. Almost like an intro instead of a song per se (well 2 minutes is not enough really)The sounds are cool as are the tempo/beat changes.
Beardedone - Spinner Fall; Weird and avant but not very danceable. Cool for relaxing after dancing actually.
j_T - The Return of Fonk'n'stein; DL.
rsmus7 - Poddies Dance; Funny sounds used here! It has a happy/merry go-round kind of feel to it. Nice selection of sounds to place it in a category by itself.
ugo - Bonfire; Another strong tune here! Excelent choice of sounds and textures. Very driving and energetic.
