Take them assholes to court, file a lawsuit or something. That even makes me angry. Sounds like they don't even give a shit either.

sorry to hear about that. you can call up your bank and ask for a chargeback on the merchant. if magix has a problem with that, they'll have to take it up with the bank, as you are no longer responsible.

I don't know if I understand the product that well but it says things like "constant online access to the program".
I don't understand what that means.
Also it says: "The e-version is a version specifically adapted to the internet".
Also one of the advantages is apparently: "Reduced load on your hard disc".
It almost sounds like you're not actually installing all of the product on your computer. Like they have some sort of server that does some of the work for you and you access it via a GUI that you download.
I have no idea if that's what it's supposed to be, but the words they're using to describe the product baffle me.

call the cc company now...you'll regret it if you dont...what if they go belly up, or their servers are down...the idea of having a computer that never goes online is ideal...forcing a connection would taint a really nice set up...just my two and galf cents...

Geez, that sucks, ttoz. Yeah, do a charge back, that's your only recourse (short of taking them to court).
And I bet within a few days they quietly add something to their website to correct their omission, without acknowledging their mistake. (You might want to do a screen save or print of each web page pertaining to that product before they change it - just in case you need proof).

i don't think magix is going out of business anytime soon, hink. they say they're making good money with sequoia and samplitude. I wonder if their customer service is nicer to you if you buy the 1100 dollar audio editor?

That is complete and utter bullshit Ttoz
.
They could have atleast refunded the money.
As other's have stated a "chargeback" is your only option at the moment.
Not being a Credit Card holder I didn't realise such things where possible.
Just lucky you didn't pay cash etc ....
So thankfully you can recover some funds.
Sorry too hear about this.
On a side note looking forward to you getting back to Melbourne next fortnight

"Not a problem, we have all IP logs to verify the purchase."
I can't understand how a company can treat me like this.

Whilst I was greatly enthused by the name of this topic - "furious" and "need opinions" in one thread - I'm afraid I'm going to offer the SNAGiest advice imaginable. $40 is not worth losing sleep over. File it away in the back of your mind, shrug your shoulders and move on. With patience, an opportunity to kick their dog is sure to arise one day.
