Here are short notes on my ten favorites:

1. Wopelka - TheCaveHallElectroMenuet

This is a very intelligent and mesmerizing tune. Not what I would call mainstream music, but it's something you hear once and that you cannot forget after that.
Not one cliche or easy trick can be found in here, it's genius at it's best level. It is the kind of tune you can listen to thousands of times and that still has hidden secrets.
An yes, this weird rythme makes me want to dance.
Number one, by a wide margin.

2. Barnadine - Man of Grace

Very classic but oh so well done. It takes some guts to call oneself a "man of grace", but grace there is in this simply produced tune. A brilliant example that you do not need tons of VSTs to do music that people can appreciate. Well played, well sung and well produced. On top of that it is my wife's favorite.

3. Tuz - eyenipple voidoid.

Love this. You can't help but want to to dance, especially in the intro. After that, the trumpet gets things going. A tune out of the ordinary that achieves the dance goal without falling into the usual sounds and ryhtmes. Love this.

4. Khepira - Ikt Hut Eit

Groovy, Love the cheezy keys at 00:35. It's hard to type when you are dancing. I love the sounds you use, but I am not convinced by the male voice, however, the females vocals come in really good, as well as the keys just after that.

5. Astanine - halothane

Here we are back into more mainstream dance. I am really as sucker for these POOM tchee POOM tchee rythmes. Bottom line, it really makes me want to smile and dance.
Very effective. The mix seems a little on the dark side, it could use more high end.

6. Wilkoryte - Slowdance

Reminds me of when I was younger and I was dancing on a song by Gary Moore that was a hit in Europe at the time. Great guitar playing. Now of course the drums and organ are over simplistic, but it keeps the focus on the guitar, which is good.
I love the chord change at 00:43.

7. Scamme - It'all synthetic

Back to the 21st century. Love the groove and the sounds. This is good dance music. Great mix! just makes me want to dance on my chair. Well done.

8. Ugo - Bonfire

Whoa the thickness of the wall of sound after the intro, That really gets things moving. Great overall sound, you master well this dance thing and the changes in dynamics that keep the energy pumping. The outro is as brilliant as the beginning.

9. Ixox - Un tout dernier Tango

The purety of the sounds is what caught my attention at first but the tune quickly caught on. Real nice tango feel to this, I live the room reverb, makes things even more realistic. I am less sure about the lead vocal.

10. Pepelogu - KVR

The sounds used are awsome. That drum track is really groovy. and the voices give a nice counterpoint to the instrumental part. Nice dance track.

Well done everybody.

Thanks to all who've written reviews.

Yes, I think you've pinpointed a real flaw, tuz. As often happens, I might have improved it quite a bit by leaving it a few days, then working on it some more. I probably also let a thematic idea get in the way of the music itself.

Suggestions for August theme:

In the category of non-free-for-all:

1. July submission mashups. UTM already has a head start. I pick chooch/beardedone. Must use a plugin of some kind to help with the co-mingling.

2. 3/4 time sig (yeah we had a few for July, but I'd like to hear more, and stretch myself this way.)

3. 80's hair band covers - this was suggested months ago and didn't go anywhere. But we need it just for catharsis alone. GuitarJeff predicted as early winner.

4. 80's Brit-pop covers - I pick 'Shine' by House of Love. "Yeah She, she she she shine on."

5. Kraftwerk covers (think 'Talk' by Coldplay which is really just Computer Love with sad lyrics and pianos/guitars - but I like it)

6. Spoken and sound efx. OK, I really just want to hear more of Knockman's sawing vignette. I have that saved off and listen to it now and then for a good laugh.

In the category that ends up being free for all:

1. Music that would scare your cat

2. What you think about when you brush your teeth

3. The sound of navel lint

4. International Cheese Market - give us your best cheese.
