HI
I can't believe this - I have about 200+ gig's of sample library and I can't find no STAB'S!!!!
Anyone know a good source for Stabs, you know those short duration hits that sometime come as a quick chord hit - like orchestral Pizzicato (I can't even find any of them!) - tend to have very quick attacks with little or no release.
I couldn't even find anything much on a whole bunch of synths, bar Albino's 'DJ Stab' - which is pretty lousy.
Free would be nice.

HI
Kind of but with synth type sounds of quick attack and short duration.
Hell, I will make up some - I just did not want to spend a day programming and sampling!

Roland X3 or XP-30 should have atleast one good one. Or then look for Fairlight hits. If I understood you correctly now what you ment by "stab". Personally I use term stab for saw based short attack + release sound which is played with short chords. Orchestral hits are then completely different.

Our IYTTIW modified trumpet sample set is exactly that:original flipper wrote: Anyone know a good source for Stabs, you know those short duration hits that sometime come as a quick chord hit - like orchestral Pizzicato (I can't even find any of them!) - tend to have very quick attacks with little or no release.

HI
'Zvon' - I will check them out.
I can only say that the sound I am trying to describe is indeed like an orchestral hit but as stated uses a single note or chord of synthetic/perc mixed type sounds.
It was heard in many styles of dance music as part of a return to the main part of a composition after a breakdown - very popular in drum n bass nowdays.

These sounds are pretty easy to make. Just tune a drum hit of fx sound, then sample it and play a chord!
With 200 Gigs of samples, you should be able to find some suitable source material. Also, use synths - any plucked, percussion type sounds will do.

HI
Thanks MacQ - just what I was talking about!
Hearing them in isolation I will probably knock some up now.
