Synthedit can be used to make excellent plug-ins. This appears to be one of them. If it does the job, why worry what was used to make it? (Long as it's legit, of course.)

Just an idea, as I don't know what ideas you have in your head regarding a bigger version that requires a proper programming language to be used... but how about SynthMaker? I know it's still progressing so the code component ain't all that, but a lot of things could be realized with it. (And you'd make the entire community and the developers really happy if something as interesting and most likely really useful was done with SM - provided it's up to your vision!)

Perhaps talking to someone like stefancrs would let you assess whether your ideas could be realized with SM. (He's the guru in SM land, I'd mention other names as well but I'm not sure they're over here in KVR with the same nicks as on the SM forum)

I've got a demo copy and it's fascinating. However it doesn't have the midi handling I need just yet.
Synthedit has been a fantastic tool for this but I'm pushing it. Not in terms of cpu consumption (it's only midi there's virtually none) but just the sheer number of controls.

The main reason I want to go to a low level language is for multi-platform and multi-standard compatability.

If you go with Delphi I can help with general coding. Never written any serious musical stuff in Delphi though. If you choose C++... well, I know the language but many of my practices are probably outdated and "soooo late-1990s."

Blast. I can't afford to upgrade to 5. Wasn't able to make this work in betas, for that matter. Too bad.

I'm not using ChordSpace, but I've got it working just fine in Live 5.0.1.

Looks good. Appears that you have your jazz theory down, too (noticing the triangle symbols for major 7th chord). Good job! I'd be interested in learning how you sort the chords, though. I notice in the I chord section you have an A7 -- so it appears that you're including tritone subs, correct?

Seems like you're covering a good portion of the chords anyways. Looks very good!

I don't understand the weird symbols on the GUI, but it looks outstanding.
