The question is not over the amount of cash lost here it is the principle. A company can not be allowed to get away with this kind of conduct.

The word must be spread how they are quite happy to screw over the customer.

And we should all take part in spreading the word.
dude.. i think the problem is solved. they're gonna send him the cd version. a guy from magix even came here and posted. look for his posts here. he's datron.

ttoz: maybe you should edit the title like "it's being worked on" or something.

Yeah, could someone edit the thread's title?

Yes, hi to Ephemera. Hope you last more than a day. If you're planning to do: *bow* Welcome to KVR. It's mostly more fun than this.

What we have here is a failure to communicate!

Reread the original email and it's clear where things break down, due to emotions first, clear communication second.

Tron(magix) deprived ttoz of information in his emails that could have resolved the issue quickly and thus satisfied a valued customer. His reply in this thread should have been his reply to ttoz's original email!

ttoz probably should have responded to his first reply by asking IF there was another way to activate before ASKING for a full refund. BUT the big failure rests not with the justly angered customer BUT Magix. Surely this is not a rare complaint and the failure to clearly post the controversial activation process on the website and the vague, non helpful email response is bad business IMO.

Praise should not be heaped on magix until ttoz is activated.

The sequencing part is not a big of a deal, coop version of logic, the audio studio is the heart of it and is a smaller version of samplitude. I think for that $ you get a lot.
You´re absolutely right!

I understand that people get angry about programmes which require online activation. but that this apps actually requires an activations has been made quite clear. I generally avoid buying those apps and you should have not got it from the beginning.
I can yjust tell you from my personal experience eith magix sales nad support in Germany that they were quite cooprative. I once bought i a shop a boxed version of their video editiong suite video deluxe (which is btw a really great product and an incredible vfm). just some days after that a new bersion was released. I conteacted them (since the product version in year numbers suggested that it would be the most up-to-date version for a while) and they sent me a new boxed version without any charge. so experiences can be quite different with the same company...

Just curious - It only takes a couple minutes to set up my PC to connect to the internet, and only a few minutes to completely disable any network connection. Why would some people wait a few days to get a cd that provides something you can get yourself with only a few minutes of settings/services changes?

No offense..but it also only takes a few minutes for your machine to be infected with a virus or spyware etc and wipe out your data or cause chaos.

I would assume that his pc is not connected to the internet due to the fact it isnt protected against the internet. This must be a dedicated workstation with only the bare minimum installed on it for performance reasons.

Hmmmm....2 things...
On a sidenote, Steinberg updates require your machine to be connected to the web as well.
OK, you could take your dongle to another place, but show me the internet cafe allowing you to install the questionable Syncrosoft License Control Center software...
Have they changed their policy since SX3 then? Because I activated SX2 by downloading the current version of the Syncrosoft thingummy and transferring it over to my DAW by CD. I have no internet on my DAW. And what's more, the Steinberg site made it plain that their preferred way of activating was by internet connection, but that there was an option to activate without one. I thought it was still the same...there was an activation link, and an alternative download app that Steinberg provide clear access to.

Absolutely. I have no desire to open up my DAW to even 5 seconds on the net. Even though there are protection schemes you can buy...do you personally know of one that is 100% foolproof, that will never let through the latest virus worm or whatever, that has slipped past the most recent detection rules? Because I, for one, will not risk losing any current project, my whole folder of freebies that I collected over several years (some of which are no longer available), any other projects and audio that might be lurking on my PC that I haven't got around to backing up, and the whole tedious process of wiping and starting from scratch.

To my mind, I'm amazed that anyone actually risks having internet on their DAW.

And I'm sure there was a 3rd thing... :?

Oh yeah...well done Magix. (Although they shouldn't have had to be prompted so bloody hard in the first place  )[/quote]

Well this only applies if you upgrade an existing dongle. If you bought SX2 and wanted to update to SX3 you'd have to get the updater DVD and then have your dongle connected to the web to authorize it for SX3.
For inbetween updates (the free ones) this isn't required. So, at least you only need to do it once per version jump.

That's so sad. A good coder, he was a top notch bloke too, and he ended up with a shite company like them. I remember when he announced he was working with them, I thought to myself that one day soon I'd have to check out their s/w, as anyone who hired Sascha had good foresight and obviously wanted to make good s/w. But I won't be looking at their s/w now. Which means Sascha's talents are now wasted to me. :(

And I bet magix think Ttoz is just an oddity not having internet access on his DAW. Well they've got their market research wrong there. I don't have internet on my DAW either - never will have. If want their s/w sold to serious musicians they'd better get their research AND their support in better shape.

Support is one of those things that can make or break a pro piece of music s/w. I have bought many things in the past for alot more money than I could have done simply because support was an issue.

"We've got your money, now fcuk off" is not what I call encouraging support that will make us all flock to Magix. :x
Yes Sascha is working for Magix and doing great work with the Samplitude plug ins .Magix is NOT a shite company and Samp version 8.2 is great and we get excellent support on the user forum. We are talking about 2 different things here , a low cost e- version for $40 and a top level DAW in Samplitude Pro . I suggest you don't tar everyone with the same brush just because ttoz had an issue which has now been resolved .If you don't look at Samplitude just because of this thread you are missing out greatly .
