hey
does anyone know if its possible to the use multiple outputs available in things like battery and kontakt with FL as i havent been able to figure it out, the VST output audio routing doesnt seem to be the same as it is on other sequencers...and it seems to me that you only get one possible output per VST instance is this true or is there a way to expand the amount of outputs a VST can have...because when I use cubase/nuendo it's just a simple case of going to the mixer and there already set up, so whats stopping that with FL.
cheers for any help.

Tactic - it sure is. Once you've loaded in your multi-out VST into a new channel, you need to click on the little red arrow kinda thing (sorry I'm a bit vague, but I'm nowhere near FLS so can't describe it any better
) thats in the top left hand corner of the window that your VST is in. There will be an option there to "Enable multi-outs" so just check that and you should be ok.
Search the forums for this topic as it does come up fairly often and you should find a more coherent explanation than mine!

The way it works is enable the multiple outputs as described above, then set your channel settings for that plug-in to a mixer track, say 5. Anything set to channel output 1 within the plugin will be affected by whatever effects you have on mixer track 5. If in your plug-in you designate something to channel 2, it will be affected by whatever effects you have on mixer channel 6, channel 3 is 7, etc. Basically it starts to count from wherever you set the channel settings to be routed for that plug-in. Don't forget to label your mixer tracks or you will get confused.

Thanks dazza, would never have looked there, saved me switching to nuendo over this, wonder why they dont make it so that it does it automatically like on all the other sequencers out there... imageline seem to shoot themselves in the foot with this app, could be alot more popular and have a better rep if they made things a bit more plain to see, but saying that i do like suprises, and its always suprising me

No worries Tactic. Yeah, I agree, sometimes the features in FLS can be a bit hidden (helps em' sell more copies of the FL Studio Bible I guess
...yeah, I bought one! ), but I gotta say it does keep it interesting. I get a kick out of discovering all the stuff it can actually do. For sure its quirky, but worth it!

re multiple outputs, it does seem to depend largely on whether the particular vsti wants to cooperate, some present the enable multiple outs option, some don't that apparently have the functionality.
