Obligatory response thread...

I used to love the bombastic choir. Whenever you would hear one going "AHHHHHHH" in a song, I thought it made everything sound so much more epic and important. Then I heard the Matrix Revolutions soundtrack and realized that they were a crutch for sub-par composers with big budgets to burn. Now the only choral stuff I can listen to is the subdued, eerie sounding ones...

I only hate those bombastic faux Orffian choirs when they sing something that's obviously meant to sound like some antique language. It doesn't get kitschier then that.
Otherwise, I just ignore them.

Tick you orff, do they?

The sopranino ocarina used to be my favorite instrument, but once I realized its name's not palindromic I gradually lost interest. These days I'd rather use them as skeet-shooting targets than listen to any of the many concerti featuring this formerly beloved instrument.

O, Atlantis! *swoons*

I dislike pan flutes and harmonicas in particular. Djembes (or pretty much any African or Caribbean hand percussion) when played by irritating new agers or pseudo-hippies attempting to get all cosmic and shit. The digeridoo is starting to annoy me for similar reasons. I hate the sound of guitar solos probably more than anything though - I keep hoping someday they'll be banned outright but it seems that day will never come.

And Erik, I'm with you on the bombastic Orffian choirs, unless used ironically. I blame the film industry.

I used to like a lot of indie music, then realised that - f**k me - its not like its clever or interesting is it?? hmm this hip hop and drum n bass stuff sounds interesting...
so yeah, thin voices and thin guitars over thin music that is hyped by the papers.

Not that it can be good of course, but hell, most of the bands hyped at the momemt are nothing special, and if they are its only cause i like that style and sound anyway (IMHO!!)

I hate my guitar. :)

Bought it when I was a 'metal' loving teenager. One of those Kramer resissues that Gibson did. Reverse headstock and all.

It won't stay in tune for 2 minutes, its intonation is shit (even when properly set up), and the bass end kills the top (tried hybrid strings to no avail).

Even having the bridge blocked was no help with the tuning issues.

Total Guitar magazine said it was one of the best cheap guitars they'd played in ages. Bitches.

  dude Gibson never...absolutely never made a re-issue of a Kramer...of that I can assure you.

FWIW those Kramers with the hockey stick heastocks are second generation Kramers...the first ones were monsters with aluminum necks and a split headstock...weighed a ton, but actually played well...I never cared for the tone though...;)

FWIW I have a Kramer Ritchie Sambora model, with duncans, gold plated hardware and original rose, and of course stars on the neck....It's actually an awesome guitar

That'd explain a lot. They probably just had a distribution deal with them or something. Thanks Total Guitar. :D

I'm looking for a new one once I have some money. Only just started playing again and it's frustrating me no end.

not keen on that.. try and fit as many notes from the pentatonic scale in a short space as time as possible... of course ending or beginning on the obligatory Bended string...

yeah.. and the "learn with griels" synth.. though that's not so much a hate.. more of a take me back to primary school, oh god I'm gonna learn something, type fear... :hihi:
