I actually have record by The Jolly Rogers which is partly what spooks me about the pirate idea. I might be able to remix something, but trying the convincingly emulate or honestly pay tribute to a musical style which is NMCOT would be an unsatisfying challenge IMHO. I've done it many times.
The palindrome idea is interesting. It's something I've considered before, but never fully completed..
