How do I get the midi to work in the Fruity Loops demo?

I have tried messing with the audio and MIDI settings. I use my Guitar Port as the ASIO output. I tried switching to the Direct Sound dohicky but I have no clue.

I also do not know how to use the plug-ins. I got the "peach" plugin that simulates NES sounds and I dunno how the hell to make it work. It is installed correctly, I think, since I can see it and make the knobs turn.

Maybe I should stop using the program since I have no clue on how to use it. Is there some sort of tutorial online? FruityLoops for dummies?

Also, is there a better alternitive for me other then Fruity Loops? I am poor and want a cheap decent program to play with and use my VST plugins.

there are tutorials avsilable at the FL site...;)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Oh wow. Somehow after fifteen minutes of searching I missed that. Can anyone still recommend something else that is cheap?

EDIT: You need to buy the program to watch the video tutorials.

How the hell do they expect you to want to buy it if you don't even know if you can figure out how to use it?

What exactly are you trying to do with the MIDI? I've got FL and I think configuring it is rather easy..

If its the setup then just make sure your drivers are good.. and that your hardware's connected and all.. that should be it.. then set it up..

The plugin.. you have to set up a directory for FL to see where to find the plugins that you have installed.. such as "C:\program files\Vstplugins" etc.. that's done in the File settings..

Then take the Peach plugin.. and put it in the directory..

Then go to Channels>Add one>more...

Then refresh it and it should appear.. then "F" it and you're set.. :D

Those are what the menu options look like. I tried them, but maybe you guys can let me know what options are the best.

What I want to do is take that midi song and try to make it sound like a NES song using the Peach plugin. I think thats possible.

Well for the First screen > The Master Sync output you should set to MS GS Wavetable Synth.. Then, leave the output port mapping at Midi Mapper..

The settings right underneath Master sync output are your inputs.. Choose your input in the droplist Remote Control Input..

Second screen> Audio> set to ASIO :) generally ASIO works best.. but if its not working then either get another ASIO driver such as ASIO4ALL (google it) or something else.. but first try ASIO Guitarport.. :)

Hope that helps
