Anyone els here using nlite?

If not it is worth a good look at. You can slipstream servicepacks hotfix's add your drivers and best of all pre tweak your OS and strip it to the bare bone for your DAW.

I must admit I have yet to use it on my daw but I have managed to get a nice striped down version running on a virtual machine. Fingers crossed all will go well when I back everything up for the reformat

Yep been using it for a couple of months now no problems slick stable and very fast my install with all service packs installs in 7 minutes flat what more could you want I reccomend it to anyone with a DAW

interesting. you're saying it'd install all the drivers I need if I'd configure it so?

hmm, although I'm not too sure, some things have weird install procedures (almost all firewire gear has some quirks, Uad1 too), I'm not really sure it'd work.

Used it to reinstall my DAW a few months back.
So handy to slim down xp and make a easy to instal cd.
Noot used it for my drivers thought could not see how that worked.

I use nLite for support and new workstation configuration. It's a very handy utility. I haven't felt the need to tweak my home DAW/video/intarweb machine much (other than disabling the more annoying Windows services manually) because I never got a noticeable increase out of the tweaks. But to each his own.

musicxp.net's is very partial.. I know there are tons of registery tweaks..

HI

I found that it is a lot easier and safer to strip the o/s down on a non-internet set-up than one that does use these and other services.

My DAW is simply that - nothing else is used on it - stripped it down a LOT.

On my internet pc I found that you have to be pretty carefull: as many services are necessary to the operation of such systems.

Ah, ttozz, I was hoping you'd say you stripped XP so far down, you found a Tiger and could run L7.
