I'll be buying eXT tomorrow, after making sure my deposit has been credited. (Yes, my bank balance is that low. *9_9*) Then I'll work through whyterabbyt's detailed and extremely helpful advice.

Meffy; what I did will still work in the unregistered version of eXT, you just wont be able to load eXT preset files. So you can try it out in the meantime without problem.
(You might not have noticed but that screengrab actually shows mine as being a demo (cos I keep fergetting to copy the key from the standalone's directory to the plugin version's directory))
Oh, and if you do pick up eXT, definitely pick up asseca's auto-downloader for eXT : http://asseca-pt.net/ext-setup/w-0.htm

I haven't had any problems loading it into a channel in FLS and getting it to control a variety of instruments: Specifically, Ultra Focus & Plugsound Keys, V-Cube and Sonic Synth
The sound combos from the Cube are awesome and it is even more wonderfully radical when setting the controllers to different midi channels to use multiple instrument -- quite literally striking and innovative sounds in this mode
So, no probs getting Chordspace to send midi to other instruments -- but I still cannot get Chordspace to respond to any midi-in from my keyboard or host and I've tried everything I can think of, so this means I can't sequence anything so far. Any help here mates?
I can make some fairly awesome recordings though, but to be able to sequence it would be marvelous and painfully interesting (as in not leaving my workstation for days at a time painful)

For the moment you won't be able to sequence ChordSpace, though you can sequence the instrument it's driving.

Thanks nuffink -- I sure hope you can get the midi-in working soon. I'd love to get my keyboard to control it as well as my sequencer -- some fantastic ideas spring to mind with Chordspace, of course.
All up, well done mate!
Cheers,
Alex

I'll email you an eXT preset which I've been playing with if you want it - pretty basic but it might get you started.Meffy wrote:I'll be buying eXT tomorrow, after making sure my deposit has been credited. Even though this isn't the sort of thing I'd have regular use for, I have to jump in and say that it has one of the most elegant, beautiful and functional GUI concepts I've ever seen, if not THE most. Be nice to see more people losing the hardware-imitation paradigm (oops! that word again) and moving towards this sort of approach - encourgages people to interact with the thing a little more actively.

Yup, it is extraordinarily thought out. Thinking about it, I'd be really interested in what could be done in terms of customisation, ie some means of loading and saving custom templates for sending less 'obvious' streams of MIDI commands and 'variants' from each pad and its 'sub-pads'. And (if it were possible) custom legends per pad. It wouldnt have to be chords, it could be control data, sequences, all sorts of things.
Here's hoping nuffink can get a good native-code developer to work with him on developing this further.

I've got a version in which each hexagram is completely user customisable. I can get about 6 of these on a page before it grinds to a halt.whyterabbyt wrote: Yup, it is extraordinarily thought out. Hmmm, pity. Still nice to know you've tried it at least

It would be great if I could apply a PCR midi control map to it so that all those parameters could be switched on the fly from the keyboard... truly awesome performance potential I reckon -- I can not think of any other current setup that would allow me to use such chord progressions live outside of using a sequencer pre-programmed for the desired scaleswhyterabbyt wrote:dystonia_ek quoth Even though this isn't the sort of thing I'd have regular use for, I have to jump in and say that it has one of the most elegant, beautiful and functional GUI concepts I've ever seen, if not THE most. Conquer the midi input bit and we're looking at a very useful, quite unique VSTi, yeah?
The GUI needs to be touch-sensitive on a clear glass panel (ala Minority Report) and we're REALLY into the 2ist century
