xander: My want list has dwindled into near-nonexistence... and about time, too. There are very few plug-ins I still want. A few updates but I can live without those for a while.
eXT seems like a useful tool and I've intended to look into it for a long time. Good price, what the hey; I bought a license. I'll try to scrape up a few Euros for Tobybear too.
In spite of already having more drum samples than I'll ever be able to use, I'm going to buy one or more of Doru Malaia's percussion packages when pay arrives. Great deals, all of them. And I suspect he's going to need money. :-( I can't be of much help to him but this little thing I can do.

Okay, installed the latest beta and that made the arp patterns different from one another. I've had CTDs twice but can't find any common factor that might point the way to a culprit (which might have nothing to do with CS) nor a way to reproduce the crash reliably.
The only other comment I have so far is that chords seem to be "clicky" -- with little crackles at note on and off events -- while playing the same synth through a MIDI keyboard (including at the same time) doesn't click or crackle. My FW410 sound card's set to 44.1 kHz and a comfortable 256-sample buffer, which is usually more than enough. I'm using NI's B4 Organ as my sound-producing gizzy. The crackle isn't the intentional keyclick sound; I know what that sounds like. I'll see if this happens with other synths too.
Will keep messing with things and let you know if I figure anything out on that possible issue, or if I run into anything else "interesting."

Nuff,
Let me echo everyone else and say that this does look way cool; I'm looking forward to playing with it.
Let me echo someone else and say that my chordal preferences gravitate towards vanilla, like sus4, sus2, add 6, add 9, etc, although I imagine that CS would quickly school me on different chordal textures. But please, don't forget the vanilla for us jazz challanged folks.
Also, is there a way for CS to randomize the chord voicings, or do we get the same chord every time?

I love this as it is currently but I'd love it even more if it was possible to define the MIDI channel for each note in the chord (e.g. lowest note of whatever chord is played = channel x, nect note = channel (x+1) etc.).
This would increase the versatility massively - especially in hosts like eXT where I could then apply a different arpeggiator to each note, transpose each note, send each note to a different synth etc.
Regards,
Derek.

Working smoothly so far. Any chance for a 'center octave' option? Currently it all seems to be based off C3. Would be nice if that octave could be changed from say C1-C5. Very useful to accomodate various synth and sampler patches when using Chordspace as the primary input controller.

Drag up and down on those little "Ch" boxes to the right of the velocity sliders. :-)Derek up North wrote:I love this as it is currently but I'd love it even more if it was possible to define the MIDI channel for each note in the chord

Doh! How stupid do I feel - so far both of my "feature requests" for ChordSpace have been for features that are already there.
Maybe I should:
(a) actually try things out in ChordSpace first rather than trying to "fix" them in eXT
(b) drink less wine before touching my PC
I'm not usually this thick you know - I can tie my own shoelaces and everything
Regards,
Derek

OK, I fooled around with it a bit more, and I must say that the things I'm missing most are indeed the chord types I allready mentioned:
- Plain triads. These are the most important ones. And no, for me simply muting the 7th doesn't do the job as I mix them all the time in my day to day life).
- Sus4 (would be just sufficient if the 11 could be replaced with sus4 on all chords with a major third). A truly important chord type.
- Diminished chords. Includes both triads and 4 part chords.
- Augmented triads.
- Add9. Extremely common.
- Add6. Not that important, still useful.
At least without the four chord types mentioned on top, CS won't be up to proper integration in an educational context.
As far as technical requests go, I'm not sure whether MIDI input should indeed trigger the chord types (I'd love to see it though), but it'd make much sense if inversions could be triggered.

There are 3 kinds of people:

I understand and agree with you Sascha, remember this is the freebie to demo the concept, with nufflink planning a more complete plug. Hopefully what you mentioned and more will be in the paid version. As it stands though, it's an awfully nifty concept
What I'm hoping for next is the ability to use it in Live5 without eXT. Maybe the ability to map chords to midi note #s.

it may have been brought up, i haven't read the entire thread (and I've made this comment privately to nuffink already), but it would be ultra cool to be able to access a 'fingering image' showing the correct way to make a chosen chord on both the guitar and the piano.
i absolutley love CS as it is, however (developers take note), if CS was extended in the future to offer the missing chord types (diminished, sus4's, etc..) and also could show me guitar & piano fingering for each chord...
i would pay quite a bit of money for it. seriously, more than I would spend on a vst synth in fact at this point (partially because i'm saturated in vst synths and don't really buy them anymore). money.
