Voters are influenced?

Very good song - but I don´t vote for his track because he gave bad review(s) to my song(s)

Unless you realize that a poll like this doesn't necessarily mean anything about people's actual (sometimes subconscious) attitudes. Who is going to want to come out and say, "Yes, I let myself be influenced by personality"? Yet studies have shown this happens.

We don't know HOW MUCH of an issue it is here, and I'm not going to continue to flog this dead horse b/c we probably never will know... I would support at least an experimental anonymous competition, if that can work at all...
Might be fun, yes. And you could read from the results whatever you wanted to

After all, one could always say he'd have voted exactly the same if he had known the names

Ok, if people are not influenced what is it then that makes loads of people vote for a non danceable song when the theme this month clearly states "music that makes you dance"?

Don't get me wrong I think he's done a superb job with all the reviews and this is nothing personal, but 7 -SEVEN (I think) people have voted Barnadine no.1 .

How on earth do you dance to that tune? Sounds more like a lullabye to me.
If the theme is "music to make you dance", surely then it's gotta have some sort of groove/rhythm in order for you to dance?
I mean you could have a classical symphony and that piece could have been 10 times better musically than the other tunes in the competition but as it's not "danceable" surely it couldn't win.
Please tell me why you voted for that piece...

It's a tango... A slow dance. I have to say I was surprised at the scarcity of modern 'dance' music in this month's competition, given that KVR's focus is music production and general electronic tweakery, and only a few of the tunes actually made me want to dance... Then again, a lot of 'dance' music doesn't remotely make me want to dance either... It's all subjective.
Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.

i voted Barnadine number one. In my understanding, dance is not only dance-floor clubbing shit (look at my own entry for more consideration).

It was clearly a tango and when i hear the song i can easily imagine several couples dancing in a dusty half-lighted cabaret. If i had a partner right now, i'd dance on it with pleasure. Therefore, the dance requirement was achieved from my point of view.

And this song is really the most musical of the whole bunch, soulful and poetic.

Oh, and yes, I thought it was great too! Didn't get my feet twitching but if I was in the ballroom I'd defnitely dance to it :)

Barnadine's song is one of the most danceable in my opinion. Boom boom techno trance D&B stuff doesn't make me want to dance at all. At most I'll bob my head to it. You're making a big mistake: you think the contest is about making *you* dance...

I'm afraid this road won't lead anywhere ... it's the way you see it, Armadillo obviously has a different view. There were 3 tangos. I, for example, preferred another entry (and voted for it). So, as Griels stated, it's all subjective :)

Isn't it always subjective? And can't you dance to anything?

Besides the anxiousness of worrying about who's voting for me, this illustrates another reason why I try not look at or bookmark the VOTING thread until it's all over. :(

Post

But I must admit I'm genuinely surprised you voted for it because it's the tune that are most likely to make you dance. Good lyrics perhaps, good melody perhaps, good vocals perhaps, good feel perhaps, but most likely to make you dance....hmmm...

subjectively speaking: awfully cheesy... i wouldn't vote for that... :help:

as far as i'm concerned i don't really need obvious boom tchac drums behind the music to know when moving the feet.

you refered to classical music. listen to some dance suites (Bach, Handel for starters), and see how rhythm can be "carried" by the music itself rather than by vulgarly arranged drums.

I can't believe nobody voted for me. It's a conspiracy...
