I'm trying to set up SampleTank2 in Live 5. My problems may be due to the specific way Live works, rather than any flaw with ST2. But I hope you can give some input anyway.
To me, the fast and easy way of using ST2 is by having
all the instruments I need for a song in one bank, simply changing midi
channels to switch between them.
But this can't be done in Live, since all external midi input is routed to midi
channel 1 on a midi track.
I've found a kind of workaround, assigning my midi controller to a
seperate track (with no instrument), which I then route to the
ST2 track - this way, I can choose which midi channel will be routed. But I still have to manually select it from the scroll-down menu each time I want to change instruments.
Is there an easier way of doing this?

i was just going to suggest the thing nibbzious demonstrated. create a separate track for every channel and arm the one you use.
if you want to control it wholly from your keyboard you'll need to assign keys/buttons to track arm buttons in live, though.
still, when you resize the midi tracks to minimum size in session view, they won't even take up that much space.

Thank you both - I have to admit I find it a bit cumbersome having to use up to 17 tracks to play one instance of ST2, but I guess I'll use this approach, since changing midi channel within a track can't be done by midi message.
