Hey there we released our two "phase" Plug-ins today:

PhaseBug - Its primary function is to shift the phase of an incoming audio signal. This is a critical function in fixing source signals that have phase errors in relation to one another, which can cause inappropriate cancellation or reinforcement of frequencies in a mix.

SpinBug - combines a traditional "rotary speaker" effect with a set of new possibilities and parameters, all packaged into a simple and beautiful interface. SpinBug uses phase relationships and a low freq. oscillator in order to reproduce an effect produced by Leslie speakers.

you'll find the downloads on our website http://www.betabugsaudio.com

oh and if I forgot to mention it.... they are completely free (but if you like them feel free to donate some money so we can pay for server costs, or you could just say a big thanks if you use them regularly and spread the word... you might even post songs where you used those plugs.... in a word have fun and let us know)

Post

btw if you have participated in the public beta you should still download the newest versions from our site

Thanks - haven't tried them as i'm doing overtime at work (doubletime - yay!!!), but I will check them out when I get home - I have faith that they will be as excellent as all your offerings are.
Top men.

"Progress Audio has released PhasePhix"

You gotta feel sorry for these guys... on the same day they release their plug, a cool free plug that does the same thing comes out. That's life.

Spinbug looks killer. Excellent art, multree.

..Thanks for the ever great plugins guys, but I was just wondering, when I downloaded the Phasebug, the manual said that it was the beta version 0.9...

Post

....I thought that was the version I had before..

Post

well it's just the old manual... sorry for the confusion.... we'll update the manual pretty soon...

meanwhile here's what's missing from the manual:

By clicking the xx° label, the PhaseBug does a 'detect' phase algorithm and apllies the negativ phase. In case of coherent material (music is something between coherent and incoherent), the Phasebug will undo the phaseshift.

thanks guys.... we like that you like 'em

See, Rock, that's why they keep me around. That's the German-to-English translation, and then it's my job to take the above phrase and put it into normal English. <big grin> Just kidding, Christian. ;)

In regular English:
By clicking the xx° label, PhaseBug will auto-detect phase errors and attempt to correct them. Complexity of the material will affect the correction's success.
Of course, remember that this refers to phase problems between the two channels as a whole, not phase problems within a whole "interestingly-panned" mix. Should be relatively easy to use it for fixing errors between 2 tracks within a project, but trickier to try to fix an error in the whole mix.

I haven't asked Christian yet (in order to update the manual) but that second sentence above seems to imply that if something's already in phase, the auto-detect will shift it right out of phase. I could be wrong. ;) This is a feature I haven't used yet.

I also feel bad about Progress Audio's product. We don't tend to make products with the specific intention of competing with existing products. As most of you know, development usually starts with someone saying, "Hey, what about a plug-in that does this?" and that's about it. In the case of PhaseBug, we had a mostly-finished product before we even heard of progress audio. To be honest with you, I thought PhaseBug was already released. ;)

I think it would be nice if you would always release a free plug that does what each newly released commercial plug does. :)

Post

:hihi: Well, we like maintaining good relationships with certain commercial developers, too. After all, some of them join us in their spare time when they're not working on their companies' own stuff. :D
