Well is there any ? ......

I was going to upgrade to SX3 untill I found out
that SX1 users could upgrade for the same price as SX2 users (I am an SX2 user) so I thought dam it wait
for SX4 and upgrade for the same price as SX3 users :P :hihi:

So :?:

Have they even fixed the bugs in 3 yet? :hihi:

They never fixed the bugs in 2, and that didn't stop them from releasing 3.
Your very silence shows you agree.-Euripides

Errrmmmm... Actually, they'll probably bypass version 4 and go straight to version 5... Just like they did with VST...

How the hell should I know I thought I would skip
that and maybe go for SX4 instead , IF I there is
an SX4 and if I can upgrade for the ame price as SX 3 users and if they fixed all the bugs in SX3 :P :hihi:

I've found SX2 to be more stable than SX3, personally.
You might want to pass on SX3 if you're concerned...

SX 3 just came out. Most of the change in this version is new features that give you 'live' on the go editing capabilities; as well as some very advanced production tools. i dont think SX 4 will be coming out for a while. i bet once it does happen though it will attempt to be matching Abelton's Live 5.0 features and the sucess this sequencer will have in the next year.

Post

I'm guessing SX4 will be released somewhere around december-february. I'm looking foward to 3.1 alot more though, go dualcore optimisations! :)

Goddamn it's gonna rock on my new Athlon x2 system

Not a chance - Ableton Live's top features are its stability (essential for confident live use) and that it encourages creativity through ease of use :P

The day Cubase comes within miles of that, I'll eat my hoodie

no interest.

since sx2 cubase has become to cpu-unefficient for my taste.

I wonder whether they'll finally bring back certain important things from the past (such as audio to MIDI) and care about the bloated GUI.
3.1 so far doesn't show much regarding those aspects.

I'd be really happy if one of their main announcements for SX4 would be something along the lines of "Dave Nicholson has finally retired and won't get in the way of a slick SX GUI anymore". Maybe that day I'm gonna start to actually work with it.

HI

5-8 months before we see SXV4?

I think Abletons mega quick turnaround from V4 to V5 was surprising, I wonder how much these increasingly quick (for some companies) new versions of their software are 'forced' by financial considerations?

Wouldn't it be nice to see a period of 2 or so years between new versions - and actually see the development and support for a product become the motivating factor - surely a refined, stable, compatible and respected product will be the hallmark for a companies progress rather than 2 versions a year!

Oh dear I am daydreaming ..... again.

Flipper.

Post

Yeah, that's daydreaming indeed. Has been like that until a few years back, but right now what we see is either quick version jumps (with new features rather than adressing old bugs and annoyances) or loads of additional products from the same company.
