As the topic says, who here is still using Kontakt 1 and hasn't gotten the upgrade to K2 yet? Note that this does not apply to people who simply bought K2 and skipped K1.

Yes - Why???

It came as part of Komplete Kare...

Cheers dude!

I have a lot of projects that still use 1.5 but am in the process of converting them to 2.x. It's a nice upgrade.

Thanks for the input so far, guys.

I noticed 6 people so far have said they have not upgraded, but only one person posted! I would like to hear from more people that haven't upgraded - mainly, why haven't you?

I did not upgrade. I got Kontakt 1 as a part of Komplete 2, but I was not too much impressed with it. I use VSampler as my main sampler and if you are much into editing your banks I think it's much better. The scripting features of Kontakt 2 look interesting, but I heard it's still quite unstable. Whar is more it still is not very user friedly for a person who wants to do a lot of editiong work. and my banks all exsist in VSampler format. The benefits of the scripting features have still to be proven to me. Can anybody post some a/b examples, ie same midi file played with and without scripting?

Scripting doesn't just relate to MIDI stuff. It can do literally anything - for example, sypathetic resonance in a piano, or auto-transposition/alternation to eliminate the machine gun effect in short orchestral samples. From my own experience, K2 is very stable. Any high end sampler can be finicky, of course. It's a matter of tweaking your system for the sampler of your choice.

For editing, it's a dream. Even better and more streamlined than K1 in that regard.

Perhaps you should try a demo of K2 somewhere - it seems like you've heard some negative things about it, but haven't used it for yourself. Many of the problems with K1 were fixed.. if you get a demo, what do you have to lose? :)

I haven;t really fancied it, but zircons take on scripting is interesting...
Have they updated it so you can change the amount of outputs?
Keeping it strictly 16 outs is ridiculous, an imposition sort of like saying "you should be more "pro""

I still have yet to upgrade to R5.

mooter; I use FLStudio 5, so I have no problems managing outputs. You simply use them as you need them, whether the program supports 2, 16, or 256.

I have heard something about Cubase and Logic creating all the outputs simultaneously even if you are not using them, or something to that effect, but I am 99% sure that the latest K2 update took care of that.

well. just checked the demo. the scripting features are nice and actually the only improvement I think it's worth upgrading for me. but most of the stuff can also be done with the combinationof a sampler and energyXT. What is more: for editiong work, VSampler is imo still miles ahead with its template based batch processing. If youz thing Kontakt 2 is great for editing, I recommend to chekc VSampler. Overall, I find that for my personal needs the Kontakt 2 update is not worth while. I might have come to a different conclusion if I wouldn't own a good sampling liub though since from what is listed the new lib seems to nbe a big improvement to V1 (which was quite a joke)

best, AKJ
