http://www.ikmultimedia.com/ Go to products,,, you will see :
iKey™
USB hardware key (dongle) used as a copy-protection system
The iKey™ can be purchased separately in our online shop or through IK selected dealers as a spare part.
Is this going to be part of Philharmonik?

Well Cubase does have a dongle and Hypersonic does, the way Steinberg does it is that you need only 1 USB dongle and you can load many licenses. Would be really nice if those USB dongles (Steinberg and IK) were compatible, so you can have 1 physical dongle to load licenses from different companies.

Would be even nicer if there was no dongle full stop. Squids has talked about having to authorise sounds as well as the software when you register the product. So if there is a dongle as well, then that is overkill. I prefer to use my USB ports for hardware that actually contribute something to my system.
I would hope that there is no dongle with Miroslav as it would have definitly affected my decision to purchase if there is.

Same old discussion is going to happyen 50 people and 70 different opinions, many of them valuable, some of them rubbish.
There is NO copy protection that satisfies all the customers, not even the option to not have a protection satisfies them all.

The basic line is that we are experincing the consequences of criminal behaviour out there. Using software without paying is CRIMINAL - fact!!!!
Someone wants to get rid of copy protections? Then name all the people, you know personally, that use cracks to the companies so that they can get after them. That done by enough people and we're done with enough of them, so we won't need it anymore.
O, you don't have the guts to send your friend to the court? I don't have either.
But the truth is it'll be that way unless enough people stand up.
Actually from one viewpoint, I should do it. Because it's meeeeee, who's gotta pay for it, too with higher prices than necessary. More sales will make lower prices or eben better quality...
Something to think about before complaining.

I am not sure who the ranting is aimed at but if I want to express my veiwpoint that I do not agree with dongles and find them an annoyance then that is what I will do.

Yes, true, it's the paying custumer that has to go thru the process of registering and/or loading a license on a dongle. It's a result of a situation of lots of people using things without paying for it. Welcome on planet earth.Bydloyoho wrote:But we paying customers have to suffer.
