I find making music more enjoyable than listening to music. I don't think that gap can be filled other than doing what i do... can it?!
Maybe interactive cd's will be the future?

that's my goal, but honestly, it's in the pile of many other non-realized goals....androidlove wrote:are you makin music the world is missing? are you makin music you wanna hear but doesn't exsist?

I just make music I enjoy making. Anything apart from that seems unnecessary.androidlove wrote:are you makin music the world is missing? are you makin music you wanna hear but doesn't exsist?

"are you makin music you wanna hear but doesn't exsist?"
Pretty funny you said that. I'm always listening for good music to listen to, the next big thing that will rock my musical world...and rarely find it. I get a pretty good idea of the attitude and mood of the music but can never find what I'm looking for, which is why I'm assuming I'M the one that is supposed to be making it...

in my case...nope and nope.
what i am writing is neither something that world is desperately missing, nor is it anything i feel is so new that it doesnt already exist in another form.
this is not to say i dont dig my music or that i dont try to put my own vibe on things...i do. just that my music is neither breaking any new boundries nor is it all that unique in the world.
im usually just happy to have finished a damn song, let alone feel like i've been so creative that i've pushed my own boundries. and as for my place in the music world at large...i have no lofty expectations there. imho, its the very rare few who can push the creative boundries of a genre or even the whole music world. as great as it would be, i dont anticipate that i will be one of them.
i'd just like to keep making the best music i can, and hopefully, over time, i'll keep improving and learn to better tap into my creativity.

Most new music in the last 6-7 decades has been either from incorperating different genres or invention of new instruments. Not many humans can just come up with something big and truly different out of the blue.androidlove wrote:are you makin music the world is missing? are you makin music you wanna hear but doesn't exsist?

id say my newer stuff (IE not my tracks in the sig) are pretty uncommon. Lately ive been incorperating dark ambient into Hard DnB to make music that is dark and dramatic yet fast and intense. Well, more like TRYING to do this
Whether the world needs/misses it or not, i'll find that out as i give my career a go in the future.
Here's to the future, aye?

I wouldn't say the world is missing my music. Well, I hope it isandroidlove wrote:are you makin music the world is missing? are you makin music you wanna hear but doesn't exsist?

I don't consider it groundbreaking though, but I do make some music cause I'm missing music like that. I'm sure similar stuff exists I just haven't found enough of it.
Actually, I don't know how many gaps there's left to fill. New genres seems very far in between these days.

Just putting one sound after/on top of another as seems fitting. Whether it's filling any sort of gap at all is sort of irrelevant to me. Though there's very little of the exact sort of approach I'm looking for/practicing out there so it may be a factor, even if I don't really think about it consciously.

No, I don't think world is missing any kind of music now - it's all there, from simple to complex, good to bad, free to structured, huge to minimal.androidlove wrote:are you makin music the world is missing?
Sort of. The music I make doesn't exist before I put it to existence, because it's mine and reflects the way I'd do things, but not because stuff similar to my productions cannot be found anywhere.androidlove wrote:are you makin music you wanna hear but doesn't exsist?
