I just started using ACID 4.0, and have figured out how to load up third party soft synths, but for some reason can't get third party effects to work. In fact, they don't even show up in the list. I have been putting them in the Shared Plug-ins/Audio folder. Is this correct? Any ideas on what might be wrong? Thanks in advance!!!!!

Don't know about your DAW specifically (I use Tracktion 2), but I know I always have to run a plug scan in the DAW's settings page after I put new plugs in the folder. I know it sounds obvious but I thought I'd mention it.Dose wrote:I just started using ACID 4.0, and have figured out how to load up third party soft synths, but for some reason can't get third party effects to work. Are they DX or VST plugins? I don't think that ACID 4 can use VST effects without a wrapper. I think ACID 5 however can.

I think that you're confusing VSTs (Effects) with VSTis (Instruments). I think that ACID 4 doesn't support VSTs, only VSTis and DX (Effects). I believe that version 5 has added support for VSTs.Dose wrote:They would be VST, due to 4.0 supposedly supporting VSTi plug-ins. Forgive me, what is a wrapper? And I did do the scan and no go on that, thanks though.
Here's info for a couple of DX to VST wrappers...

OK, now that makes sense. Thank you very much. Now if I get some Direct X plug ins, will they open up in ACID like soft synths do? Or as there own seperate application?
