I find that I need this, all of a sudden. Has anybody figured out how to do it?
Cubase SX 3.0.2, Audiophile 2496 (so just a single stereo output on the hardware, no surround).

Thankful for helpful tips :-)
When I was younger I used to be in doubt. These days I'm not so sure.

I may be wrong, or misunderstand you, but GAC-1 only offers plugin-internal sidechaining.

If you want "real" sidechaining (one track in cubase triggers the compressor on another track) you might need a different tool, Voxengo Crunchessor f.e.

There you'd have to route the sidechain-signal to the back-channels of a quadro bus. The signal to-be-compressed must be routed to the front-channels of said bus. and there you go.

ok... seems I'm wrong and GAC-1 does have an external sidechain.

I guess the procedure will be the same then. Put it in a quadro bus, signal in front, sidechain in back.

here's a complete how-to (for crunchessor):

Thanks, looks like that's a workable solution, will try it tonight.
