Hi all,
I've just refinished rebuilding my PC, reinstalling my SATA hard drives as SATA hard drives as previously my motherboard was recognising them as ATA-100 drives. Up until this point I was running logic 5.1 happily chugging along with about 10 VSTis, FX, Audio tracks etc without a glitch. Now when I go load my old tracks into essentially the same system I get the following message after about 30sec-1 min:
"ASIO: System overload The audio engine was not able to process all required data
in time (-10011). "
I have literally changed nothing about the set-up i.e same software, same drivers.
I copied my old VSTi and plug-ins setting folder before the rebuild, saved them and put them back into the fresh install of Logic. So I can't quite figure out what's different other than the hard drive set-up which if anything should have made disc read speeds faster?!?
On some other posts I read possible causes being hardware - i.e CPU overheating, hard drive speeds etc; or software - drivers, preferences settings etc.
I have tried the ASIO4all driver instead of my regular driver and still get the same problem.
has anyone got any suggestions on how I can fix this, i.e. change preferences etc.
Here is my system BTW
p4 3.2 running on ABIT 865e mobo
1gb of ddr400 ram
2 X 80gb WD Caviar hard drives
EMU 0404 soundcard
Logic 5.1 - using ASIO EMU driver.
So if anyone has had similar problems and hopefully fixes please let me know!

Hmmmm. I can recall having a fair amount of problems with this sort of error until I changed the syncronization settings in logic. I think at install it defaulted to sending on all ports, when my interface had a preferred port for sync messages.

thing is when i originally installed I didn't have to play with any settings other than choosing my ASIO driver. didn't need to change the sync. settings that time, which makes me think it could be something hardware related??
however will give that a try tonight and see what occurs...

There could be some windows settings causing problems as well given the fresh install. Happy hunting.

re: your comment about CPU readings. If I look at the system performance util in Logic my CPU is barely reaching the 25% mark and that's with 5 VSTis running and a heap of effects on each. Similarly if I look at the task manager CPU performance it is registering about 20% with all my tracks playing back. As I said, before I reinstalled Windows I was having NO problems with any of this.
Just a though though, I upgraded to Windows XP home SP2 from a dodgy copy of XP Pro. Do you think this could have any bearing on my troubles??

alos, check that your system has CPU throttling disabled in the BIOS, that setting can effectivly halve your CPU speed if the processor gets hot.
What I always do is this:
When I power up, the cpu fan somehow get's it's temp reading from the systemp...that's kinda odd but what the hell, I let it boot up and when I'm in windows just do a few quick things like check my mail etc..then I just turn it of, wait for about 40 sek and then turn it on again, now sys temp is about 30+ degress and the cpu fan spinns fast enough to keep the cpu at about 30C...no throttling is then enabled...and the sys is cool...well as I have disabled CPU throttling this doesn't matter, but I still like to keep the system cool...on a really hot day when the case temp is high, I don't have to go thru this tho'
so, disable CPU throttling in your BIOS!

It may be due to SATA. Some chipsets cause issues with audio. As it was working fine under ATA mode that might be the answer.

mmm, just had a suggestion that it could have something to do with service pack 2 (Windows XP Home). Has anyone else had any problems specifically in SP2 when running Logic??
