there's lots of extra verb on top of it all though. from what i can hear (my ears aren't made of gold though) it could be pretty good but probably not as amazing as i first thought.
the price is very attractive though.

the preset examples-page does give some more info on how the individual instruments sound. i'd still say not bad but not totally awesome either.
i'm constantly wondering whether to get EWQLSO gold, philharmonik or maybe the MOTU one as the first lib for songwriting. all of them seem solid by terms of features/articulations, sound fine for my use and are currently roughly the same price... but seeing that i couldn't actually use any of them properly before i update my system (current one being a g4 laptop from two years ago) i guess i'll take another year to think about it, haha.
i'm still wondering whether eastwest are going to actually permanently lower the gold price to about 500 dollars/euros though - they've had the same sale price since may or june and it's always been like "sale until june 31" or whichever month it is even though it has continued past that. either they're just having a big-ass summer season sale or they're keeping the price as a "special offer" to hurry people up to buying it and in the end just keep it as the normal price afterwards. who knows

I looked at the website, but I couldn't find anything about system requirements or copy protection. I hope it's not iLok.

I think for the price it sounds pretty good and has a nice amount of features. I've been considering picking it up to add to my collection. I too would like to know if it has an iLok come with it... it probably does

looks cool.I hope the market flooding of this kind of product leads to an overall price reduction

Well ... it's because this and Mach 5 were developed by USB (Atmosphere engine, Trilogy engine, Ultra Focus, Charlie, Plugsound, X-treme FX), but I'm not sure that USB developed the MX4. So they had a working codebase on Windows already, so I guess that's why it's an easy port to multiple platforms. For my money, USB's stuff owns. I'd go USB engine any day over Sampletank. Even with the Sampletank FX.
So this means I'll most likely go with this MOTU Symphonic over Philharmonik. Though I've got EWQL Platinum for "real" jobs ... sometimes it's a little bit overkill (and it takes up a LOT of drive space)!
