Sampletank 2.1

When I bought SampleTank 2 XL back in April, I specifically remember reading on IK's site and in a variety of other places that purchasers who bought after a certain date would get the 2.1 engine and sound set free, and those who bought before would get the engine free and the sounds for about $100. I don't remember the exact cut-off date, but I do recall that it was prior to my purchase. Now I'm wishing I had taken a screen shot, because reading over these posts, it sounds like the deal has gradually changed, so that we all have to pay for the new sound set.
Am I correct here? If I'm wrong, please correct me and accept my apologies.

No, not everybody will be charged for the sounds update.
If you bought ST2XL this year (2005), then you are entitled to the complete engine and sounds upgrade for no cost.
Certainly no-one will have to pay for it. Everyone (ST2 users) is quite welcome to download the 2.1 engine upgrade and simply use it with their existing library!

I think anyone who bought a pre-order of ST 2XL in 2003 (not the "wait-and sees" of 2004 or the "johnny-come-latelys" of 2005)
AND
Is left handed
AND
Because of lack of keyboard skills is forced to wrangle with midi guitar.
Should receive special consideration.
But that's just me

Well, the sound part of this product is something that was passed over to SR a bit. I can tell you that most of the work we did for 2.1 is tweaking up the previous XL library and axing a few duds, adding some new material and mostly programming it to fit the wonderful features of the new engine. If you are already an IK/SR sound collector then you may already have some of the new sounds that were added as tastes of the other ST format products like Expansion Tanks, Sonik Capsules, Sonik Synth 2 and Miroslav Philharmonik. That part won't be as desirable as the just overhauled new versions of the main XL collection that it has. Sounds were optimized more to the new Stretch engine and other updated features.
The main attaction of the enhanced sound set is more for new users I think. More bang for the buck. The $99 upgrade to the new sound set is for L users to upgrade to the current XL sound set (the other 4 discs) but it just so happens to qualify for the free upgrade to the 2.1 sound set (just like anyone who bought XL since Jan would too). There actually is no official previous XL 2.0 to XL 2.1 upgrade of the sound set. We're going to offer it for free to any esoundz gold and platinum members who own ST2XL at least. Anyone else can perhaps purchase it ala carte from us as long as they are registered ST2XL but for less than $99 (so, not the same price as the uprade from L). I'll let you all know when I have more details next month. It'll be fair and enticing.

And important. When you buy the Upgrade, you may refer to user harmonygardens, so you and harmony will get $5 in epointz for your next purchase or for downloadable sounds...
When you join esoundz, the member price might even be a little lower than $99.
Gold members would get it for $82.17 at the moment.
It pays to be a firm believer in esoundz.

How will you be notifying "Platinum" customers (like moi?) Special email or something?Squids wrote:We're going to offer it for free to any esoundz gold and platinum members who own ST2XL at least.
Update when you can.

Will ST 2.1 respond to universal master volume messages from a midi keyboard or will there be an assignable controller for the master volume?

Maybe that's a tad understated by your goodselfSquids wrote:...adding some new material...
As I recall the soundset in XL now is 5 gig and in 2.1XL will be 7 gigs, right? Of course, you may be quite right to say only "some" in terms of number of sounds if said sounds are gonna be big sample files
Don't worry, just nitpicking

Maybe this was asked before, but will 2.1 have a master effects section with sends, similar to Philharmonik but most likely without CSR!
Anyway even the regular onboard reverb would benefit from a master/send arrangement.

This thread is tempting me to upgrade to XL. I participated in the SonikTank Group buy. I'd heard there was the option of upgrading to XL at the time, but didn't see any instructions on how to do it and decided I'd check out ST2L before deciding on it.
I've been mixing a couple of projects that are heavy on live recorded audio tracks, not VST instruments, so I haven't had much time to spend with ST2L. I just recently started composing a piece using it and wondered if it'd be worth increasing my selection of sounds with XL.
Thanks guys! Since it looks like the offer is still available, maybe I'll sign up with eSoundz and get ST2XL.

IIRC Squids said, that CSR is not part of ST2.1 and no master effects withs sends. There are limits to what a compyny can do for a free upgrade, I believe. But I'm sure master effects will make it into future versions.nexussynth wrote:Maybe this was asked before, but will 2.1 have a master effects section with sends, similar to Philharmonik but most likely without CSR!

Good move to get in on the Group buy,,, that was a terrific deal!! IMHO, it's always worth expanding your selection of sounds,,, well, I'm out of the closet on that one,,, I'm a full fledged addict. I have ST2 XL and it definately is worthwhile, even as is, without the upgrade, but the upgrade is a definate a cherry on the sundae.Ambassador Kosh wrote:This thread is tempting me to upgrade to XL. BTW, you can get added value by using harmonygardens as a referrer when you buy it, and we each get $5 worth of epointz,,,

Looking at how much you get (another 4 CDs plus the ST2.1 sound upgrade) it's definately worth it fot that price. You'll have more choice of everyting and I tell you that it's nice to have maaaaany string patches to find the one that fits you melody in the head soundwise.Ambassador Kosh wrote: Thanks guys!
