Ive had Project 5 since the begining, at first it seemed obtuse and wholly unusable, But after getting up the nerve to try it I found it to be a convient way to call up all your favorite Vsts/Dxi's.
It kinda reminded me of another host I was fond of "Reasons" for all the hype and talk my friend was giddy over I found reasons to be very good indeed but being spoiled on all the great Vsts and Sonar4 I found myself using Reasons less and less. Still great for the Refex loops however and some of there instruments are quite good but with the release of Reaktor 5 and Tera 2 and Vertigo 2 I found myself sticking to Sonar4 and Project 5 1.5.
Well after much talk about Project 5 2.0 and all the talk about Deminsions , I had to pony up and buy it.
Now Ive only recently begun to see what the difference is between this and the old one and BOOM, I ran into Deminsions " takes a deep breath" OMG is this thing great sounding, I must have every decent sounding Vst on the planet and this thing has impressed me. Also worth mentioning is the all new PSY 2 synth it is miles better than the old one was, they also threw in a new Roland synth and a few good effect plugs too.
Well I always liked Project 5 Rewired to Sonar 4 cause it adds better BPM and better resolution but Wow now the interface is more streamlined and it just looks great.
Still havent found a way to make the metronome count-in properly and they seem to have taken away the intergrated Vst look they had with 1.5, now the vsts just pop up in there own window, boy do i miss that intergrated look it had "sigh"
But to hear Deminsion and the new Psyn in action is a holy experience for me.
So to answer my post here Ide have to say Project 5 "2.0" is one of the best things Ive ever bought.

Dimension really is the main event. But I think the workflow in Project 5v.2 is far better than 1.5.
P5v.2 is now a fully capable DAW.
There are some excellent hosts out there now. P5v.2 is certainly one of them. I think the instruments that ship with it are impressive. Velocity is one of my favourites.
But Dimension is probably the best synth I have heard yet. Only Z3ta IMHO equals it. But then they have the same developer.

I guess it goes to show how widely opinions vary, as I absolutely hated the docking system in the earlier versions. I lost count of the number of times where I forgot to hold down the CTRL(?) key when moving a window around only for it to snap to the main window...always resulting in a cry of frustration!Stairsteps wrote:...they seem to have taken away the intergrated Vst look they had with 1.5, now the vsts just pop up in there own window, boy do i miss that intergrated look it had "sigh"
I am surprised that they didn't make this an option within the program for those masochists who liked the whole docking thing
