I build a kind of mic modeler VST,
where you can transform a source mic to a destination microphone sound.

The micophones that are used the most will be included,
if possible. ;)

have been using recently:

neumann tlm103
neumann u89
neumann u47
marshall mxl 991
marshall mxl 990
studio projects b1
shure 58beta
akg c3000

re:microphone modeling. you can model the EQ curves but there are loads more to how a microphone sounds.

1. the technique used - dynamic, condenser, ribbon.
2. transformerless or with transformer
3. pattern used
4. impedance loading between the mic and the pre
5. capsule shape and size
6. grill
etc

these change the sound a LOT beyond mere average frequency response. basically i would say forget about it

You have a km84 and don't use it much??

Of course, a pair would be more useful (as they are usually used as a stereo pair) but still, that is one of the finest small diaphram condensers in the world!!

In any case, I use:

Audio Technica AT4033

Oktava MC012s (matched pair)

Shure sm57s (4 or 5, they are damn useful!)

Beyer M201 (2, very cool for guitar cabs)

MXL 2001

MXL V63

Audio Technica pro 25

Post

blue baby bottle
akg c414
shure sm57
some akg cigar looking ones, the name and number escapes me at the moment

I agree but its quite old and fragil let alone that power supply.

I've got U47 which is great, one Lomo 19a19 which is even greater at times. Loking for a good ribbon. I've tried all BLUE mics some not so distant time ago and I have to say that collection is a wonderfull palette of colours.
