I remember reading about a dx plugin a while back that enabled you to listen to your mix through different type of speaker simulations.

I have tried googling but I can't find it.

surely someone know what I am talking about?

no...it wasn't a popular plugin/company.

it was dx only

damn....that was hard to figure out.

I don't get it. At best, you'd be able to emulate anything "crappier" than your existing monitors, but... hrm....

The experience of listening to headphones is having the absolute separation between left and right channels as they pipe completely separately into your ears.

The experience of listening in a car is completely dependent on your car's system and the car's acoustic properties.

No offence to Bobtail Software, but I just don't get it. :D

Its a handy tool for mastering, u want your mix to sound good even on crappy soundsystems, this way u can try out how it sounds and adjust your mix.
A bit expensive maybe.

I'm checking this out - thanks for the link...after a demo and some research I might give it a shot. I'm always looking for creative ways to bend and stretch or otherwise hype a mix so I can hear different aspects of it when rebalancing... :)

The logo and 50's thing they have going is pretty cool too - got fries with that shake ? :D

i'm not sure what soundcards support this, but it would be a good idea to have your main moniters, and flip the switch to an alt moniter that pumps into a boombox. if it sounds good on those two systems then take it over to a car and check it there. for 50 bucks you can get a decent boombox thing. i agree with lunch money i dont understand how that plugin emulates a car system.

I have an old car in my studio just for that purpose...
Don't all pros do so?
