dharmawan wrote: re:microphone modeling. you can model the EQ curves but there are loads more to how a microphone sounds.

1. the technique used - dynamic, condenser, ribbon.
2. transformerless or with transformer
3. pattern used
4. impedance loading between the mic and the pre
5. capsule shape and size
6. grill
etc

these change the sound a LOT beyond mere average frequency response. basically i would say forget about it
Thats all correct.
But it looks promissing tho...

when i get the chance i prefer the AT4040 and the Oktava MK-012.
i dont own them though so i'm shit out of luck. i have the shure sm58, and a pair of sound professionals TB-2 in-ear binaurals. they are great.
i'm wondering how the 100 dollar Kel microphone is doing?

the dude who designed the mics for BLUE was screwed by the company and has now started his own line...check it out

Please name and list them here.

Might be interesting ! :)

I use:
Audio Technica 4047sv
Neuman KM84 (not much tho)
Always the Marshall MXL603s. Might be too sensitive, they pick up *everything*. Use them on guitar, piano, flute, and voice. I have other mics, but these are the best so far.
