I'm really happy with the Convolution processor. I've dabbled with SIR and downloaded impulses from noisevault but never really used em. Now I will. A whole new world of reverbs for me.
Can yous guys confirm some bugs I think I've found?
The R-Alt-# thing I'm not getting,
deals with multi-Midi recording,
and the Drum Rack not displaying the selected sample in Multi-mode.
More in depth at the Synapse forum.
Peace!

press Right Alt and a number at same time, works fine.mooter wrote: The R-Alt-# thing I'm not getting,
each sample is on a diff MIDI channel, change the MIDI ch number in the piano roll and you will see the notes.mooter wrote:

You have to remember that Rich has no interest in audio recording, he only put it in there to shut people up and he made you all pay for doing it to him. I think it is very unlikely that audio recording will be significantly improved in the future.aMUSEd wrote:Still no multiple audio ins?
Wait until you see how freakin' good the SSE2 optimizations are, you probably won't ever need to freeze anything. Again, Rich doesn't use VSTi, except for his own, incredibly efficient creations so its unlikely he would see it as a priority. Quite frankly, I would also have thought that it is a feature that came about 3 generations of CPU too late.dusted william wrote:does Orion Freeze yet? I think it would be a good idea to be able to freeze a patter.
mooter, what skin do you normally use? I'm trying to upload an updated NOVA-II skin but my connection keeps dropping out.

That's a real pity but it's one of the reasons I only use Orion for the synths (mainly Ultran) and turn to Tracktion and even an oldie like Logic when it comes to making music as they are far better able to integrate hardware and software in one production environment.BONES wrote:You have to remember that Rich has no interest in audio recording, he only put it in there to shut people up and he made you all pay for doing it to him. Surely though, unless this really is some private hobby and not really a commercial, professionally oriented product, the dev needs to pay attention to the needs of his purchasers and market rather than just adding features to "shut people up" and then get back at them some other way. I can't believe he is that shortsighted myself.

Rich doesn't see ORION the same way you do. He doesn't want it to be an all-in-one package, he has his own plans that probably don't coincide with the desires of the vast majority of current users. I think his vision is of a product that sits in a big studio in place of a Triton or Kurzweil workstation, rather than replacing Logic or Cubase. His interest seems to be in achieving his goals, not being commercially successful by doing whatever the market wants. For that you have to admire the man - he would rather go back to work on some shitty coding job than sell out his dream to make a living from ORION. That's how I read the man anyway and I have enormous respect for his commitment to making ORION exactly what he wants it to be. Luckily, we seem to be on similar wavelengths so its all good for me.

The v6.1 NOVA-II skin is up. As well as a new skin for the Impulse Response Processor I've made various improvements to almost every part of it, like wider and less cluttered Mixer Strips.

Ok, and what about the instant raise of volume on channel faders? Did they fix it? The faders have also very short "way" from min volume to max.I believe that these are very important problems and after so many upgrades they haven't fixed them yet. Because of these fader problems it's impossimple to make a good mix with good dynamic changes. Orion's console sucks!
It's more fun to compute..

Haha, I'm just waiting for everyone to pile on original flipper for his copy of Orion Platinum he was selling last week.
Just been demoing OPlat6. Rich has done an awesome job on the Impulse Response processor. Given that you'd expect to pay a fair whack for a decent IR Reverb in the first place, it's a hefty addition.
Had hoped to find some more support for multi-timbral midi editing and piano roll adjustments (and the pretty rigid pattern sizing... but heck... it's a pattern sequencer after all...
), but I can understand why certain areas have been focused on.

The IR is really very good - I wish it would stop reminding me I'm using low latency ASIO drivers though everytime I load it - I do know that and I can do without that sort of hand holding thankyou - it still uses bugger all CPU on my system - can't I turn this off?

HI
Anyone have a ballpark figure as to what kind of performance boost the SEE optimization gives for running plug-ins?
Flipper.

I use Nova, now that you got the new one up it ain't no thang.mooter, what skin do you normally use? I'm trying to upload an updated NOVA-II skin but my connection keeps dropping out.
BTW, have you updated the nova skin for XT?
I also like the fact Rich isn't trying to make O into a complete DAW host because it's just too much work and stress for one person and I'd rather it excel at what it does best as a sequencer.
Besides, XT makes up for what Orion lacks, so I have a complete host.
