there's plenty of that going on already, with people who have their soundcards set to monitor inputs 
Seriously though, check it out, its pretty neat! You need low latency drivers, and you probably need to tweak your soundcard drivers so that you're sending / monitoring the correct stuff, but it works really well!

yeah i think i'll get it and join in when i'm in mood for jamming... i do have a decent audio interface (motu traveler), a mic and some instruments that i suck playing

I ran into Rozzer and Griels on Ninjam earlier today. It looks like KVR is starting to get into this, bit by bit.
Unfortunately I couldn't jam with them for long, but it's always a pleasant surprise to log on and see familiar faces (Or screen names, anyway).
And yes, I'm aware someone is going to intentionally misquote that bit above as being "familiar feces". I've come to expect it from this great community of ours
