I would suggest an IR browse window in the IR plugin GUI similar to SIR and ConvoBoy, but at least you can live preview all your IR's via the open dialogue..
Prett decent so far. Orion doesn't need much more stuff as it is..

This seems to indicate he does want it to be an all-in-one packageSynapse-Audio homepage wrote:Orion Platinum is a complete virtual studio

Except that the description "virtual studio" is used to differentiate app's like ORION, Reason, et al from the big "sequencers" like Logic, Cubase and Sonar. I think these are fairly widely accepted terms these days.

I guess I should have posted the whole quote:BONES wrote:Except that the description "virtual studio" is used to differentiate app's like ORION, Reason, et al from the big "sequencers" like Logic, Cubase and Sonar. I think these are fairly widely accepted terms these days.
I'm just sayingthat it does seem that he's saying it's a complete solution, not a 'part' of your virtual studio.Orion Platinum is a complete virtual studio, including multitrack audio recording, a mixing desk with sub busses and effect returns, as well as powerful sequencers, generators and effects.
IMO if Reason is advertised as a 'complete' virtual studio then they aren't being honest. Orion seems to be that, if a bit limited in audio.
Anyway, it wasn't meant as any kind of criticism of Orion, if I didn't already own Readon I'd probably consider picking it up. Lack of Mac support is also a negative for me, but not that big of a deal.
Glad you guys are happy with your update.

The IR's wet/dry at full wet really sends the DB's through the roof with some impulses..Has anyone else noticed this? Most IR readers have a gain parameter to counter this.

Reason was advertised as a "complete virtual studio that could replace all your hardware" back when I bought it in 2001. I think they changed their tune after everybody kept harrasing them for audio features.

Maybe this is the kick in the pants I needed to go for Platinum.

It certainly is, and was even before it had any kind of audio recording, but that shouldn't imply that it has the same features as the big sequencers. It has been the only host I've used for the past 5 years or so. Its way better than any workstation I ever saw or any other hardware set-up I could afford. But it is not as well suited to certain production needs as the big sequencers and, if I know Rich as well as I think I do, it never will be. ORION offers an alternative for those of us whose primary sound source is computer-based. If I were recording lots of live instruments I would use something else.braj wrote:I'm just sayingthat it does seem that he's saying it's a complete solution, not a 'part' of your virtual studio.

I only have one piece of hardware at this point, the rest is VSTi.. so OPlat fits my needs pretty well. I had drifted away for a while, but with the issues in some of the other hosts I use I erm am coming back to OPlat!
