One of these days you'll wake up, feel all weird and empty inside... and after the first cup of tea, you'll realize... your monitor is standing on the table, it's not atop a white-ish rack unit anymore!!! And you'll be forced to the software realms of convolution again like the rest of us ordinary mortals!bmanic wrote:![]()
Sorry for bringin' those old memories up! Oh well.. if I ever win the national lottery then I'll buy one so that you can come here and drool over it.![]()

Thanks! I didn't think to check the news!
RaySpace demo got a little mad at me in Sonar4 so maybe I'll wait for an update or 2 before falling for this one...

Great plug. Unfortunately, I cannot get the pins-out 3-7 (Ls Rs etc) to work in Plogue Bidule (0.8502) or Audiomulch
I wrote an email to the developer hoping they can fix it.

Hi folks, thanks for your comments and personal emails. I've had a mad week or so adding your requested features! All updates are going to be free, I hope you guys like it...
Dave Hoskins - www.quikquak.com
You can now:
* Added line and box tools to speed up the drawing of rooms. Yes, good idea, and speeds up the design of rooms enormously!
* Gain outputs are now in dB, and the wet output has been ramped up for quieter areas.
* Pre-delay. You can move the first impulse response forward AND backward. Useful for compensating for speed-of-sound delays.
* Block size parameters. You can instantly alter the size of the whole room. From a block size of 10cm to 2M. Good for quick editing, and having really detailed small rooms.
* Detailed ray count. As requested finer adjustments of the ray counts.
* Smoother diffusion, noticable less 'ring' in very small areas.
* Better presets.
* Longer delayed and quieter unregistered buzz.
* Bug fix in 'undo' feature.
* Looks a little less 'cheesey'
The other pin-outs enable RaySpace to cope with 5.1 setups, and the host appears not to call speaker setup functions. VST is a little ropey on surround stuff but I'll continue to come back to the problem of some hosts on future updates.

You're the first person to ask, which is interesting in itself. I'm not ruling it out completely but I've researched including height information into the algorithm. It's difficult to explain, but basically the results were surprisingly not better, just different, generally in tail lengthening. I prefer the what-you-see-is-what-you-get approach, also, my ears are the guide rather than the academics behind it. It's not about having such-and-such Cathedral in some-town modelled to accuracy. I hope that goes a little way in answering.
Thanks,
Dave H

thanks for the info.
i wasnt thinking about recreating places like real cathedrals but rather for experimenting. for example, the cave demo on your site...what would it be like if the cave was only 3 feet high?
i dont know if the results would actually be useful at all, but i thought it might be a fun option to work with.

Claustrophobic. And of course you could only use low-level signals as there would no headroom.what would it be like if the cave was only 3 feet high?
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

Hi Dave! I'm very glad that you've implemented all these changes. Will make it much quicker to work with and do quick sound sculpting. I'll check out the new demo asap!quikquak wrote: *Lots of nice updates*
