Just was curious what role Booze plays in your signal chains. Am I the only one going Tube Mic-mAudio Firewire-Can of Beer-Lappy? Kidding...

Seriously. Does Booze play some role in your recordings? Personally, I don't always booze up before laying tracks, but it often makes the whole thing more fun. Indirectly, if I go out on a big bender some night, the next day, my voice seems to have a great deal sudden low girth to it. Sometimes I've capitlised on these morning-after-the-party-jesus-i'm-johnny-cash powers...

Do you suck booze down - or do you suck when you down booze?

I've known a few girls like that.

Err.. seriously.. yeah, I can't do anything at a computer after a few cans... weed can help sometimes though. But I've got a friend who can't get any music done (at a computer or playing bass) unless he's completely drunk

ditto...I get slow a stumble fingered with one drink...my last band practiced in a legion hall with a full bar and we all had tabs, the only thing on my tab ever (I swear) was pepsi....I never drink and drive and I think my music deserves better then a drunken hink....;)

substances tend to stunt my creativity and make me producer sadder music. I was better before them and am better after

I gotta admit that in the mid 80's to early 90's I got to the point where I couldn't pick-up my gi-tar without atleast a halfg of blow up my nose...the 26th of this month will 13 years clean...but that was the hardest part...I had to put the guitar down for close to a year to get straight....and that my friends is why you can bank on the fact that I will never touch coke again...

Weed I can take or leave...the concept of getting high to play off weed is almost comical, usually playing is a buzz kill...maybe the first ten minutes I feel the buzz but all the concentration kills it... :hihi:

neither booze nor drugs play any part in my writing process. i hardly ever drink (low tollerance and a high tendency for illness), and im just not into drugs. im kind of a control freak, so the idea of getting loopy for a while doesnt often interest me.

if nothing else, i've found that im a terrible player when intoxicated, either by booze or weed, and my intoxicated musical ideas sucked worse than my sober ideas.

i havent worked with anyone where intoxication has done them any good either. the people i've jammed with (or been in bands with) who were intoxicaed while playing never played as well as when they were sober. of course, they thought they were brilliant while loaded or high, but their playing was actually sloppy as hell and their lines were not nearly as creative or sounded as good they thought.

of course, intoxication obviously works well for some people's composition. i just havent worked with anyone where it did, and it doesnt seem to work for me.

i started on this audio pc shit from nothing and y'all helped me build the damn thing...but i realize i've posted over 400x and haven't made one note of music, that's pathetic... i was too embarrassed to post on the "kvr in the way of productivity" thread but honestly i've been doing nothing but drinking and web browsing... i admit that although i had some heavy shit go down in the last year or so, i ended up simply drowning my sorrows in booze and feeling sorry...yes i'm taking care of my babies but not myself in the right way...i really ain't no sad sack all the time, and i'm around people who party heavy/brag how much they can drink and believe me, (unfortunatly) i can hold my own and i love a good time as much as the next idiot...it's just gotten to the point where i need to move on and become productive, this shit is going nowhere...

i came up with an ok idea for this months contest and i realized if i don't dry out and put the ol' nose to the grindstone it will end up being another daydream to add to the list...

i actually was gonna make some dumb "i'm bowing out of kvr to get some work done, see you on the other side" thread, but this "booze vs. production" thread will do fine...i'm gonna stay off kvr (after tonight) 'till i got something to show for myself, it's only fair....

i used to have a pianist friend at high school who said he'd developed a SPECIAL TECHNIQUE to play jazz when drunk.

i never found out what it was but the fact is that he was a f**king ace player both sober and drunk (studying piano playing at a music academy now) so it probably made no difference :)
never stop loving music.
