Sonic Refills (Reason 3.0 Update)

I have a question for Squids or Kim. When should us Reason users expect to see the Sonic Refills updated. I know that it takes to time to come up with some sick Combinator patches, but it's been almost six months. Also, for us who purchased Sonic Refill 1.0 (Vol. 1-5).....what sort of upgrade deal should we expect????

The good news is that we're wrapping them up now (all 20 volumes) and should be done some time next week. It's going to be well worth the wait.
The other bit of news is that we're going to do an updated version of the box set 1-5. There is yet another piece of news or two on the Reason front but I will save some things for ACTUAL annoucements and not just me spilling the beans.
Thanks to everyone for their patience. We're also taking longer because have been doing these closely WITH Propellerheads so their input is factored and it fits more closely with the Factory Sound Bank (which SR was also a part of) and their general concepts of what they'd like sound support for Reason 3 to be like.

You don't have to. The way we work is that if an SR product is bought on esoundz within 2-3 months of the release of a major update then as long as the price is the same (which it will be) then it is a free upgrade and we'll send it to you. We also honor it from another store as well but you just have to show proof of purchase (like a dated receipt in this case). Slightly more hassle but we take care. Previous owners of the box set ver 1 will have a cheap upgrade price of $25. Or, if they just buy 2 or 3 OTHER refills then they can have that upgrade for free. That's the sort of thing Alex can do since he is the head of the sales/support team. alex@esoundz.com is his email.zai wrote:I was about to order the box set...should I wait a little?

But, all you do is order the box set now. When the new version of it is out in a few months you just send an email saying "oh cool. Can you send it to me?" and we look up your order that you qualify for it with and say "Sure, no problem". So, you're safe. You can also keep the original disc too in case there is something different about it that you like.

Squids,
Any word on these refills being also available through the props site?
Downloading is by far my preferred method - it avoids customs charges and shipping charges/issues. Getting the refills through their site as a download was an added bonus.

I'd second this - I'd much prefer to download them too.sghoughton wrote:Any word on these refills being also available through the props site?

We have mini refills on www.esoundz.com too for download. But, the full version refills will still be made available on the Props site. Expect a few more coming at the end of this month for the Props site and then some more the following month.
I also have a special surprise planned. Naturally I cannot say what it is yet. I think Reason users sure are going to like it!

Now, the next question, when do you think these updated files will hit the educational market?
I've been getting ready to buy the complete set later this month...
Oh, and as always, thanks so much for the great sounds.

Well, they are always ready for education. If you mean special discounts for education then this is not done automatically but you can go through the sales@esoundz.com for that.alabamian wrote:Now, the next question, when do you think these updated files will hit the educational market?

By the same token we have something we call the Sonic Refill "Gold" bundle which is half price all 20. In fact, while it is not even up on the site yet you can email alex@esoundz.com and he'd even sell it for less than half price. Of course that's still in the 4-500 dollar range (we are talking about 20 volumes = normally $1,000.). But, we've had quite a few people opt for this which has made us decide to put together this sort of "Everything" bundle for Reason.

I think that now most peope has high speed, downloading a "full" refill package is not going to be too much trouble.
I don't even mind paying the "full" price even...and the "Gold" bundle does sounds like a steal...I could hear it now..."GROUP BUY"! HAHA...but for half price...sure felt like a group buy already!

It's a different kind of group. A group of products. But, actually that would be a good group buy. We might do it. The problem is that our home is KVR and it is not a Reason resource... despite the fact that there are still some Reason users here. So, we'll see. If we can connect with some Reason communities then maybe it could work. Perhaps we can even just do it through the Props. You never know.zai wrote:I think that now most peope has high speed, downloading a "full" refill package is not going to be too much trouble.

Squids, I like your bundle and upgrade policies. I just imagine how cheap Virtual Guitarist, VGEE, Groove Agent, Hypersonic and Halion would have been with such a "repeat customer" pricing.
This, plus the fact that SR/IK got the sounds I need has made SR/IK my strongest sound deliverer: Omnisynth, ST2XL, SS2, Symphony Strings and AT plus Philharmonik to come. SR is gonna rule my HD.
